It seems like 90% of the stuff is in the "bought this Ibanez for my son/daughter for Christmas, lost interest in two weeks" category.
Occasionally there's some good stuff that I have to pass on because of finances. There was a 88-key Fender Rhodes on there the other day, and someone even had an ARP synth about two months ago.
I'm mostly looking to score some cheap mics on there now.
i see lots of "metal" gear...shitty over priced drums kits that never sell...lots of 4x12 cabs(no amps) and tons of high school band instruments...remember...this is albuquerque...ya wanna shop big city style...leave and shop in the city you choose to live your petentious life in...

I have found some awesome stuff on craigslist locally. You just have to scour it every single day to find stuff, because the good stuff is usually gone in a matter of minutes. I've bought: Early 60s Rogers drum kit Early 60s Gretsch 2x12 tube amp Vintage Daegan glockenspiel Vintage Ampeg Gemini IV amp Frender Rhodes 54 electric piano And a bunch of other stuff, all for relatively cheap, but I've spent a lot of time scouring the site.
Like Maury said....diligence is key. However, at some point we're gonna have to figure out a way to recycle all the $100 guitars and crappy amps that dominate the resale list.
Buying a guitar should be like adopting a pet. There has to be some kind of background check to make sure that the gear is properly used, stored and loved.
I just scored a 2000 dollar set of custom leather furniture for 500 bucks. Other scores include my Rhodes = $300.00 24" Imac + applecare = $800.00 70's Ampeg 2x12 cab = $75.00
Some other stuff but those are the biggies that come to mind. I love CL and yeah, you have to scour it continuously to find the deals and also have the extra cash to pop for the deals when you find them. I scored the furniture yesterday and mustah checked it 10 times yesterday alone.
Of course most of us don't need to own nice gear because we practice at music stores under the guise of trying out nice gear.
Seriously, though, what's nice gear? My very favorite electric guitar is an old, beat up Silvertone that plays and sounds (really?) better than a Parker Fly. There's been just as much crummy music created on expensive equipment as otherwise.
The gear issue is a line of division among musicians with snobbery on both sides. I guess you know what side I'm on. I'll never buy a new car for the same reason, though.

That, my friend, is VINTAGE gear. Old tube amps like that require a loving home and regular maintenance. I also wouldn't want to rely on it for touring. Nevertheless, it's a pretty rare rig - they only made it for a year - and at the very least a collector's item.
