I'm going solo and I need an electronic friend.

Looking for a somewhat old sounding drum machine. Can be vintage equipment or new equipment or whatever... No idea what i'm looking for. I don't need something that is going to sound techno-y. I want something that sounds either slightly natural or strange in a wonderful way.

Zac,

I was looking at this one http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/msg/743488725.html

I couldn't find much info about it online.

I got an old Roland TR-505 and run it throguh a lexicon reverb unit and I love how it sounds.

What type of sound/music are going to be doing?

Same thing I wanted to do with mark but solo for now until I can find some other people to make noise with. Kinda dark like the stranglers, hopefully clever wordwise(or as clever as an oaf like me can be) like john cooper clarke, driving beats of our kraut forefathers neu/la dusseldorf.

That all makes it sound like some shitty electro project though which is not the case at all. Thus the need for ancient sounding drum machines. I don't really know exactly what it sounds like but I have a few of the basslines fleshed out and some lyrical placeholders going.
I'm looking into splitting the bass signal into 2 amps (if anyone knows how to do this let me know) so I can run one through that sunn 200s I have and the other either through the mesa or my old vox guitar amp. We'll see...

As far as the drum machine goes - I've had a recommendation for a Roland MC-303. Going to look at that as I have some experience with more recent roland drum synths.

Also still looking for people to play with. If this project sounds remotely interesting to anyone get in touch.

i got a korg electribe off craigs list for $100 that is fun to play with. as far as splitting your signal to 2 amps, that's easy. either get a stereo effects pedal, or just get a standard a/b/y switch.

Yea, i've been looking at the a/b/y switches. Seems there's a bit of concern in killing myself with vintage amps though. Smile

Looks like the higher end models will prevent me from possibly killing myself though.

Used to use an electribe a long time ago for a little project I did called the Ghosties. It was cool but too modern in sound. I'm not entirely sure I'm going to get the sound I want via drum machine but I don't know if I want to deal with drums yet or not. We'll see.

Christian is selling some stuff including a MC-303 . it has the same sounds as a TB-303 which might be close to what you need...sounds might need some post-tweaking but that aint hard.
