African Greys such as Einstein go for around $1500. The smarter the creature, the more valuable, I guess.

I had a feeling you were an animal lover. I dig birds, but having cats has proved tragic for keeping birds at my place. Luckily I live in the old growth forest in the Sandias. I have an array of bird feeders and dig sitting on my porch and scoping them out. A few of my mountain pals razz me about all the effort and $$ I put out for those feathered babies, but fuck 'em, birds are too cool.

Duncan is quite a handsome guy. Have y'all had him for long? Any others? I take it you either don't have cats, or Duncan keeps them in line...

His hatchday's coming up in May. He's a doll, but can be a punk ass too. That beak is sharp. No cats (I'm allergic), no dogs. I was even afraid to ask the landlord if birds were ok, but most landlords don't realize how much damage birds can do to drywall, carpet, and paint, so she gave us the green light.

The birds in the east mountains are great. I'm always amazed at the variety out there. The blue jays and those yellow-breasted black ones that whiz in and out like jet-fighters...great old-timey entertainment!!

I wanted to have a Hatchday party, but inviting his fellow birds from the neighborhood (pigeons, hawks, crows) would probably not be wise.
