I'd really like to.
Anyplace new, for one thing... all ages would be really cool, we almost never get offered them. Kids move around more, you know? Lush Rustler sucked. We were totally trashed almost everytime we got on stage. Also, we sucked. We had fun though. y'know, speaking of "what you really look like," I don't think most crowds have much conception of what they look like either (it ain't MTV Spring Break). I look at the crowd, and I see a lot of unflattering expressions and awkward dancing. Mostly a lot of thousand-yard stares and nods. I never feel that bad, because I could easily be doing essentially the same thing (music and booze while looking bad), but without the (labored) justification for it (it's about the music). |

yeah, it took the compound kids a little while to get moving to foxx/novels mostly 'cause they didn't know what to do (except the girlies of course) but they'd be jumping and slamming to romeo, guaranteed. and they buy merch too!
my guess is the compound would be happy to have most any band play that asks...? of course we look akward while dancing--we're white! although i'll never ever manage to approach it, my role models for dancing are (pre-hip hop) black girls... maybe next life... hey levi i dug up an old lush rustler review from 2001: " lush rustler play punk without prefixes like hardcore, emo, pop or what have you. If the volume was low enough and you heard them in the background at some party, you might think someone had put on a crude and unknown sex pistols bootleg" y'know, i never thought about what you have to see from the stage (except maybe typical lackluster response from bored scensters). and you didn't even mention fashion! or having to witness people hitting on or making out with each other to your music... say, instead of critics/fans reviewing shows, bands ought to review the crowd. i'd print it. any takers? ---------------------------- "even good people have bad taste in music...and vice versa" http://thewigwambam.com/ http://www.myspace.com/wigwambam http://www.myspace.com/nmbandflyers http://www.myspace.com/dirtcitymusic http://www.myspace.com/dirtcityzines http://www.myspace.com/rebelradionm http://www.myspace.com/itchygreenthumb |

Yeah, we'll look into the Compound.
Or, if anyone wants to get us on a bill (hint). I kinda have my hands full doing merch and other shit. the rest of the band is supposed to do booking... I'd never want to review the crowd. The last thing I want to do is scare people off. We've had some great ones and some terrible ones, but we love all of them like our own family. (did anyone buy that?) John Brophy recently posted this review of Burt's on MySpace by the band El Paso Hot Button (or something?) under the title what a conceited cock:"I'm sure the local "Eclectic" Gap kids thought it was a hip hang out.I played a 15 min. set and tore down.A few people got into it but were more interested in buying beer than buying CDs" Man, I don't want to come off like that guy... Here's another Lush Rustler review from the pages of Wig Wam Bam, about three months previous to the one you mentioned: "the immature display by their front man... convinced me then & there not to bother to see them again." you also called our set, "half-assed." It broke Rexx's heart, and we've spent the last four years trying to impress you after that. |
