i gotta say the romeo/comic book flyers you've been churning out lately are extraordinary.

long before i was a music geek, i was a comic book geek. in fact, i sold my collection of marvel's at age 19 to finance my move to the southwest.

plus i learned to read with piles of my older brother's older friend's 1950's DC's.
Jimmy Olsen turned into a giant turtle! Batman and Robin battling intelligent alien-plants on venus! Titano the super-gorilla with kryptonite vision! they don't make 'em like that anymore...

Thanks! I got a bunch more coming. Comic covers lens themselves very easily to fliers, they're designed for the "hard sell."

They do still make them like that though: Tom Strong, Tomorrow Stories, or others of those Alan Moore comics- ABC Comics company. Fighting giant nazi robots on the moon and shit...

My favorite DC villian was the 60s-70s Doom Patrol character, Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man. Just the name alone-case closed! "Run everybody! It's Animal-vegetable-mine-aaargghhh!" I wanted to name the band Doom Patrol, but got out-voted. They had all the best ones- The Brotherhood Of Evil? A brain in a jar, a super-intellegent-french-communist-ape? Fucking-A-Right!

That Foxx-show one, with Bulletman? I knew that there had been a Bulletgirl, but I had no idea there had been a Bulletdog.

yeah but moore does that shit on purpose.
50s DC editor mort weisinger actually believed gorillas on the cover sold more issues! maybe they did back then.
anyway i'm pretty disenchanted with comic books all around these days, including my fave b&w indies. even love & rockets is experiencing age pains but it still beats the pants off anything else...

Gorillas and giant robots sell to me! the biggest problem with comics nowadays is that all the good ones come out like 1 or 2 times a year, and cost 7$. When I started they were like 65 cents, and you could get old ones at yard sales for pennies. Now, all these assholes sit on their "investment" and talk about what it's all worth. NEWS FLASH: it ain't worth shit if you ain't sellin and they ain't buyin.

Anyway, enough geek shit (for a minute) where's the rock?!
I'll tell you: at Burt's Tiki Lounge tonight!

Here's one more coming up, I'll post a flier tomorrow.
