Well all I can say (o.k., I can say alot more) is that you should listen to the roots and origins of the music you play. Good on you for digging Rock and wanting to play. It will be even more fulfilling when you realize bands like Fugazi have way more to do with what you are into than say The Used.

Always good to know and experience the roots of one's interests. If nothing else, it will impress the chicks and make you even more of an InterWeb tough-guy when shit talking on a message board.

And really, what could be better than that?

You forgot to tack on the 4 years it takes to be in a relationship with a girl and go through a bad break up to compose those emotional lyrics.

I saw Fugazi about 5 years ago. They were pretty cool. And my music isn't about a broken heart, so maybe I need to just say it's punk-pop straight up. Maybe it's my mistake for misunderstanding the emo label.

I got to grow up in Minnesota, so I've probably gotten to see more big acts than those born and raised here, which is not a rip, just a statement of fact. Anyway, that's the style that's going on in the local scene up there so I thought I'd try to bring some of it down here, that's all.

Is that sarcasm? We're not really a backwater town or something. Although y'all have those high falutin' fancy pants things called books in Minnesota.

MLX, I like your style (Anyone using the term "high falutin' fancy pants" goes straight to the top in my book). I know this isn't Lincoln, Nebraska, but it's not Denver, Colorado either. I have had to do a bit of driving (or flying if I have the cash) to check out bands that make the Texas, Colorado, Arizona (choose your order) gamut and do not stop here. It kinda sucks...those shows used to be a 2 or 3 times a week event. How long was it since Tool was here last (and I mean before May)?

I seriously doubt that. If you want to get into a pissing/list contest, fine, But there hasn't been a major or an Underground (any genre), Blues, Folk, Jazz or World Beat act that hasn't been through here in my lifetime (longer than your parents probably) in Albuquerque.

I-40/Route 66 goes right through here. B.B. King, Bobby "Blues" Bland, Dizzy Gilespe, Miles, Charles Mingus, Zappa, Led Zep. Yes, Black Flag, Nirvana (twice. the first time they played in Santa Fe to about 20 people), Stevie Wonder, Pavemet, Helmet, Angry Samoans, Sun Ra, King Sunny Ade, Pavement, Soundgarden, Rolling Stones (twice) fucking Jimi Hendrix (two nights in a row), Janis Joplin, Taj Mahal, The Minute Men, Sachrine Trust, Scream, The Cramps, The Ramones, Sonic Youth, Public Enemy, Run DMC (twice), Beastie Boys, Slayer, Gwar, Canibal Corpse, No Doubt, Jane's Addiction, Crucifucks, Crcifix, Meat Puppets,JFA, MDC, Hellios Creed...

Yeah, I've seen them all here, and many, many more. I'm just scratching the surface here.

And I'm pretty sure your Tool has been here anytime they are touring. Perfect Circle as well.

So get to know your surroundings before passing judgement.

Not a rip. Just a statement of fact...

"I got to grow up in Minnesota" Mmm. Me too. I never knew it was something to brag about. All you hosers get out of my way, eh! I'm from Minnesota! Yah you betcha! I saw Prince once in an alley!

"I know this isn't Lincoln, Nebraska" Is that a dig on Lincoln? I don't like it there either personally, but there are bands there-not my cup, but still-that have done well, say, 311 (here just this last month) The Faint (here last year), all those other Saddle Creek bands like Bright Eyes, etc... of course bands there all split town for happening Omaha (about an hour drive from the differing downtowns). No, actually fuck those bands.

Yes I must agree. In no way is Fugazi EMO. I must admit I feel old but band like Black Flag, HUsker Du(sp?) etc were much better than any emo bullshit of the last ten years.
