Devendra banhart is this generations next marc bolan/Nick drake. He's a drifter so I can't say he's really "from" anywhere. He does live in Michael Gira's basement though. You can check out soundfiles at http://www.younggodrecords.com

Xiu Xiu is from Portland. They just got all their equipment stolen so this tour will just be one of them doing acoustic and minimal electronic stuff. They're slightly indie, slighty goth, slightly electronic but very damn good.
