ABBA - Albuquerque Bands Basketball Association (not a real association)

presents: 1st Semi-Regular 3 on 3 Band Basketball Tournament -- THIS SUNDAY JULY 20th @ 5 pm

All bands are welcome. Spectators, cheerleaders welcome. Sign your band up at 4:30 pm at Summit Park (on Constitution between Carlisle and Girard)

BBQ Grill will be available. Bring food to grill and plenty of fluids.

This whole mess started with Isaac of Prime Certified talking smack to Pauli of The Dirty Novels. Isaac said his little skinny ass would slam all over Pauli's tall, skinny ass. Pauli said the Novels would eat Certified's lunch and the date for a game between the bands was set. Members of other bands who witnessed the chest thumping between the drunk duo wanted in as well so it's been opened up to any band who wants to play.

All team members must be regular band members (so don't recruit your brother who played ball at a junior college -- Spillway 79, I guess you'll need to recruit a player unless you're at least a 3 piece since the last time I saw you. Maybe you can add one of the 2 Blue Blanket Ghosts). Remaining band members can sub in if they want.

So come out Sunday even if you don't want to play and meet some fellow local musicians. Throw something on the grill and, if nothing else, it should be worth a laugh. If you can dunk you probably automatically win the slam dunk contest. This event is just for fun, but maybe well get a trophy at savers or something.

Sorry for the long post. Big Grin

We'll definitely take Dandee (don't know if he can shoot but I heard he kills people regularly playing hockey-- easier match against corpses). Now if I can just talk Jeffrey into playing...

This is pretty crazy. Isaac and Zach from the Sweatbands were talking about this back in the spring-- except we wanted to do it just for the jerseys. Does anyone know who can print shirts cheap?

I got to picturing Paul and Isaac trash talking each other and it just occured to me that standing next to those two.... *I* kind of look "chunky". If you've ever seen me, it's kind of funny. I suppose everything's relative...

I *THINK* the Sweatband is in. Problem is we are missing a member. So we're recruiting our official roadie who has never roadied in his life.
Unless we can get Juliet Legend to play of course.

I think we need to call a reunion of Icelandic for this one Chuck. I think the combined hight of us 3 would be like 19 feet tall!

19 feet and 250 pounds!

RAWK!

Well hell, we might have to. I talked to Jeffrey and he didn't look to enthused about playing basketball (or sweating for that matter...). I mean, I *could* take on three rock musicians at a time-- we are talking smoke infested, hungover, sleep deprived at noon, deaf, dehydrated and underfed folks-- but I'd at least like someone to alley-oop me or a warm body for a high five....

Can people who support a LOT of local music play? I know, Krista (curly hair, you all know her) played VARSITY B-BALL and she could help any band kick major butt. But you would probably need to ask her first!

Okay..so I am the only member of the sweatband willing to play/sweat/move. Is there a bastardized misc. 'band whore' team?

--I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to speed around a city, keeping its speed over fifty, and if its speed dropped, it would explode! I think it was called, 'The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down.'--

I might be able to remember how to play that game. It's been quite a few years though.
Me and Dr. J (aka Killah J) used to play roundball with the best of them...or maybe worst of them? I dunno, but we tried to put the bouncy ball in the round hole.

anyone will be real strict about who can and can't play. it's more for fun than anything. although, you can count on the novels schooling the yuks and prime certified.

so get a team together and show up (or we could pick teams at the park) -- no problems.

maybe it could be the albuquerque musician and those who support musicians 3 on 3 b-ball tournament.

I'm very proud to announce a new band here in Albuquerque (and quite conveniently formed days before some basketball outing...) We are called "Hey, Sweat Spill!" Look for us on Sunday.
