I've had the chance to see a lot of touring bands pass through Alb in the last year or so.

These days when I think I get more excited about hearing that one of my favorite local/DYI/touring bands is coming back around than the big major label acts. Anyone else feel the same way?

depends on the act/how major label they are.

most of the time i can't afford to go see a major label show, and i just can't justify paying 40 bucks to see most bands (there are exceptions).

but i get excited about the 10-15 dollar range of touring bands.

When it comes to breaking the bank on music, I have my list of artists to see before I or they croak. Anything outside that list is negligible, but if the price is good I'll check them out.

Shows for smaller touring acts are more fun anyway. Not as many dickheads attend those shows.

There is nothing I like more than walking into a bar and being blown away by some band I've never heard of. Brian from Burt's always has the hot tips on who's gonna rock at Burt's (and elsewhere). I ask him about once a month about what shows are not to be missed and he always has a few good ones to put on the calendar. Joe and the other bar owners as well. Ask them what's coming up when you see them around and it usually pays off.

Hell, I got a full-on stiffy when I saw I could see Elton John at Tingley for either $49 or $129.

What a bargain! Roll Eyes

$49 buys a lotta drinks at Burt's. No cover.

Depends on the band and whether I can afford to go. Whether they're major label or DIY is irrelavant to me. There are plenty of good bands on bigass labels and plenty who are under the radar and DIY.

as far as touring bands go, there are tons of great acts that come through without much fanfare . . . unfortunately .

last night was an example .

paleo at the atomic.

generally, i watch for names i've heard of or that sound interesting ... it sometimes works out about 50/50, but well worth it when you see bands like low red land and built like alaska .

gaste seu tempo como se era sua última moeda de dez centavos

getting permission is pointless
