jeremy - i know! i'm liking this habit some artists are forming (making whole albums free and downloadable). i love the album almost more because it sounds nothing/very little like any previous bjm albums.

n8 - now that you said that, you and i have met. at brian banks house, i believe. i drunkenly asked if you wanted to be the drummer in our band. gary (our singer/guitarist) was out of sorts that night. small e-world. how's the tot?

that is all

Ah, yes. I don't remember you specifically, but I do agree with you that that night did indeed happen! After my buddy Mishka's show at Burts... Yeah...

Kid's doing great. He likes old Casios and ring modulation.

yup, that's the night. i remember very little.

should hit me up if you're ever hankering to put your drum legs back to use. could be interesting what we come up with. i'm sure gary and dave would be down, too.

that is all

Black Mountain - In the Future (Jagjaguwar)

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VCZSKBKJ

To download: Enter the three letter code the page give you and wait 60 seconds and look at some ads. It's about a 120 MB zip file with nice 320kbs mp3s and album art included.

Besides buying the album when it comes on on January 22, I only ask that you send an email to the band asking them to come to Albuquerque. I saw them a few times in San Francisco and Oakland and they are a great live band. They have a tour in February and they play 2/8 in Tucson and then have five days off until their next show in Birmingham, Alabama. I'm sure there is an Austin in there, but show them and there booking agency that people want them here and maybe they'll come. I'm working some other angles, too, but every little bit helps. Hope you enjoy!

wicked! ... although i feel sorta dirty for doing this.

I saw Pink Mountain tops a year or so ago and they were pretty really awful live. (although I love their albums and BM albums) Maybe it was just a bad night for them.

Right on! That Amber has some amazing pipes on her. We knew that already, but she sure shines on the new album. If you're into her voice, check out her side project Lightning Dust. The songs aren't mind-blowing, but her performance is awesome.

And at about 4:15 on Bright Lights... All I can say is fuck...

cool, thanks. i thought she sounded sorta forced and a bit too out of tune on their first release. but it would grow on you. but she sounds amazing on this record. i think this album far outweighs their first album. it takes you on a sonic journey like a classic album should. you can hear a lot of influences. it sounds like it was recorded to tape. very saturated, muffed-out fuzzy guitar tones

I agree with Bl0cks on his album list, Except for the Battles one, which is wonky, noodly shit.
