Possibility #1: Call a press conference anoouncing that we will start a fund that supports small local businesses and fights efforts by "box stores" like WalMart with WalMart's $$; Milk the publicity for a record contract and write it all off on taxes. Tour the world opening for U2 and REM. Possibility #2: Refuse on political grounds and remain starving artists. Try to use the publicity in some way to avoid this. Possibility #3: Take the $$ and become total corporate whores for hire. Do commercials for Haliburton, Hamas, RJ Reynolds & Co., NAMBLA, the KKK, and others in desperate need of publicity. Fuck touring/record contracts, etc., and hole up in a room at the 4 Seasons, drinking 20-year old Scotch & snuffing rails off hookers' butts.

What Would Hüsker Dü?

I'd take it if I got to pick the RAMS song and the hundred grand was an initial fee pending royalties. Heck, they sell RATM finger boards at Wal Mart. I wanna be that hardcore, too! ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø¤ - ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`° www.myspace.com/theunemploidwww.myspace.com/rageagainstmartinsheen

Who needs Wal Mart for that? PSA... I was just at Kelly's on Wyoming on monday, and they have just about the best prices on single malt I have seen in town. A Glenfiddich 12 goes for $19.99 over there. Their Glenmorangie Wood Finish 12 yr olds are all under fifty bucks! ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø¤ - ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`° www.myspace.com/theunemploidwww.myspace.com/rageagainstmartinsheen

I'd do it, take the money, buy the hottest hookers and have myself an orgy.

i would tell them to take a big drink of water because they are about to get on their knees and nuzzle up to my mushroom tip. After i blew a fat load all over their corporate whore faces i would tell them absolutely not and kick them out of my cardboard box. No amount of money is worth our dignity!
What?

Damned straight. That's usually a $30-$40 bottle. It bears mentioning that the Bruichladdich 10 is under $50 as well, as is the Scapa over there. If you are into the Islay Malts, I recommend the Bowmore Legend, which is only $23.00 over at Kelly's, and is a more enjoyable Whisky in my opinion than those costing more such as Laphroaig or Ardbeg. Also, if you are into this stuff, Dun Bheagan makes an 8 yr old Speyside that is fantastic for around $30. Hard to find, though. Cheers! ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø¤ - ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`° www.myspace.com/theunemploidwww.myspace.com/rageagainstmartinsheen

A well-known former Albuquerque band got $100,000 for a McDonald's commercial-it helped them buy recording gear, better instuments/equipment, and tour more so I think it was a good decision on their part. I'd take it, no question about it.

I especially like Levi's idea! I'd take the money and get to work on my dream studio-in a missile silo!! What would N.P.H.do?

If you didnt take it you'd be an idealistic fool.
Despite the obvious need for financial backing for struggling artists and musicians, there are many other alternatives to furthering art then associating ourselves with corporations who from an ethical standpoint have some questionable business practices. Some of my favorite artists have become successful with hard work, skill, and determination. Of course they market themselves, but they have done it without sacrificing the integrity of the art or themselves. But, in a society of instant gratification we seek the "quick fix", the easy way. To quote one of my favorite comedians Bill Hicks, "Once you do a commercial you are off the artistic roll call forever". Yes it is a hardcore view, but many fail to see the danger of just being another pawn in the capitalist gangabang, some part of us is defintely lost and used. I would rather take my final breath than to see one of my songs as a prelude to a fucking McRib sandwich, but thats me. Addtionally the band you are speaking of in the case of McDonald's, they had the talent and the brains to get to where they are now without selling out, it just would have taken a bit more effort and thought. For me associating my art with people who facilitate the mediocrity that has plagued the music industry for the last 15 years is not going to cut it. I am not that eager for the world to see me. So by not accepting Wal-mart's dirty money or McDonald's charity in your eyes I would be considered an idealistic fool, well so be it. To me someone who accepts handouts from corporate hacks and war mongering fucks is not only a fool but has lost touch with reality and the ramifications of their own actions...
