I thought this might be interesting...
How many shows do you think you've played total through the years?

here's my guess: 180 over the past 5 years

WMDs - 50
the Bellmont - 50
sFs - 40
puhlaut - 30
pre-puhlaut - 10

Romeo GTH has played about 85 shows since the very end of 2002. I didn't really keep track with any of my others; probably another 125?

"How many shows have you played" is kind of like asking, "how many people have you slept?" I mean, even if you could remember, do you really want to relive all those now-embarrasing, smelly, sweaty moments with drunk people? So, you know ... I've played more than 10 and less than 100.

Squawk on.

With the Foxx I know it's been way over 100.
Probably 130 or 140.
With Jealous Gods...I think we're at 7 or 8.

i just kept stacking them all into our web site calendar: http://romeogoestohell.com/subpages/oldcalendar.html. It's weird to go back and look at some of those shows. I see a lot of bands and bars over and over again...

The old man's life is an eternal gig. Been that way for at least 25 years. If he isn't playing, he's getting ready for the next one.

Ballpark, I'd say about 1200.

All the time. I have my favorite shows that were packed and fun and the rock was there ... I always wonder if this show will be one to remember. I love thinking back on passed rock shows that kicked much ass for whatever reason.

It helps get me pumped to bring the rock anyways. Smile

I'm interested to know how many of you have ventured out of Duke City. If you have, where has your band played? At what club/venue? The Unemploid has only played 5 or 6 gigs here in town , but we're anxious to break out. We played in Phoenix @ a club called "Jughead's" last month where we were received 10x better than at any show we've played here in town. We're aiming at Denver next. Any suggestions as to which clubs to play there? Keep in mind we play punk rock.

Im not good with math, but I wanted to try and figure this one out...

assuming you started working clubs at 21 that would make you 59 years old right? That totally rocks!

We've played lots of shows, but only a few stick in my memory as generating energy of their own. And that's cool. Zach Freeman, a local guy who performs with just a mic and a sampler strapped around his neck, called them moments where everyone just kind of forgets about you and is rocking out. I thought that was an apt description.
But out of town, we had a freaking blast at The Captol Bar in Soccoro. We sold a ton of CDs and people were dancing. They book all kinds of stuff. We've only played there once though, so I don't know if it's consistent.

Hello Dandee,
Actually I started in a surf band in 1965 when I was 15 - I'm 55 next month and played full time for over 25 years (either in the studio or on the road) - the last few years I've slowed down a bit and have a day gig - but still play 2-4 nights a week, but it takes being in 5 bands to do it (why I want to get back into the scene in ABQ) (If you are in the Santa Fe area, I play all gigs with Georgie Angel (If you get the Santa Fe local access channel they have been playing the video of our last plaza show pretty regularly) and Los Montiels, and sub with Sierra, The Jakes, Nightline Express, and coming up, The HooDoos)

I don't necessarily recommend Bar Musician as a career path - my right kidney doesn't like me much, and I have 18 ex's - but Damn - what a ride.
(It is also amazing what you will find yourself doing for money whan the gigs dry up)
