Well, I've loved music all my life. And when I was a kid, after listening to The Beatles, and having been in choir for years, I wanted to do more then just "sing" or listen to music, I wanted to write it, and perform it. Since the age of 12, when mark and I wrote our 1st song, it seemed a lot easier to express myself through music. I do it b/c I love it. It doesn't matter where it takes me, as long as I have the freedom to express myself in a way that I love, thru music. It's a great feeling when you write something, and you present it to the rest of the band, and after a few rehersals, all of a sudden a birth of a song emerges. The ability to actually sit back listen to the song in its entirety, and realize that it is something you wrote and it was collectively pieced together, is one of the greatest highs you can ever have. I dunno if this actually answers the question, but thats my feeling on y I do this. . .

I like the creative process most. Writing the music is probably my favorite thing because it is something new being brought into existence and everyone plays an important part in it. When things go right, the band as a unit kind of becomes its own organism, like a sound/thought/emotion organism. That is a cool experience- to be part of that process and whatever it communicates. The reason I actually play in a band and perform is because I dont like being a center of attention and it's a challenge for me.

Songwriting, absolutely. It's so good to create something just to create something. Not for deadlines, not for work, not cuz anyone was expecting you to. Just for you.

Plus isn't it the greatest feeling to know that something you made is bringing joy and entertainment and has an effect on complete strangers?
