I thought nerds were supposed to hate it because Alan Moore told us to?

As my favorite superhero thing, favorite comic, possibly my favorite literary thing ever, I really WANT it to be good. I have almost everything he's ever done, from Miracleman to Top 10, even that half-thought-out Image stuff from the 90s (I don't have Lost Girls, yet). But, I dunno... League of Extraordinary Gentlemen looked to be foolproof, but they butchered that. From Hell has it's moments, and V for Vendetta, though they went off the page quite a bit. The less said about Constantine and Return of the Swamp Thing the better. Everytime I read Watchmen, which is at least twice a year, I find something new. I really think it would have been better done as a 12 part pay-cable series, each episode an issue. Though I hear that stuff cut from it will be put into the DVD, I just can't see them reaching the depth, density, pacing, and compositional beauty of the original. It means so much to me that I almost feel like doing it "okay" is almost a lower blow for the pinnacle of the form than fucking it up. Maybe that's just me. If it gets people to read it I guess it can't be all bad (and this isn't a skimming type of comic, you have to READ it - there are fairly long text passages). But I used to recommend LEG to people and boy was my face red when that shit sandwich came out and I had to eat it.

I liek that it's set in '85, things mostly look good (I want to se Nite Owl FAT though!). What's it rated? If they take the teeth out it'll be weak. If they change the ending I will pray for painful deaths to everyone involved.

well... i think every fan of watchmen has a level of apprehension about the movie... just b/c of the consistent butchering of moore's work on film. but i firmly believe that zack snyder knows how to be true to source material... i mean... he took 300, which is an OK book, and made it extremely faithful on film, and only changed things to make it BETTER. also, i'm a fan of the dawn of the dead remake too. and i'm aware that it can't be 100% faithful, b/c like you said... to be 100% faithful it'd have to be a 12 part miniseries. but i have faith... i mean, some of those shots in the trailer are PERFECT film translations of panels and passages from the book. i was having a similar conversation with a friend today, and i think zack snyder is very aware that if he changes the end there will be major nerd uproar. and if you watch the production video diaries, judging by the level of detail he's putting into the film, i'd be very very surprised if he went through all that trouble and then made massive changes to the story.

The only thing I'm not crazy is Ozymandias' costume. Loved seeing the Owl ship take flight and Dr Manhattan looks pretty good too.

I loved Watchmen. I hope the movie doesn't fuck it up.

I liked the first half of V for Vendetta, then it kind of bogged down. The interesting part was unravelling the mystery of V's past and watching him wipe out his victims one by one. After that it got kind of talky and preachy. And the movie mirrored that, to some extent, except without exploring the first part nearly enough.

I don't have much faith that a movie can capture rorschach, but I'll be shelling out my money to see how they try.

It's on the Batman and Robin soundtrack, that is where you can find the song! Check ebay or amazon you can probably get the cd for 3 bucks!

Are you listening to the last song on the CD (The Beginning is the End is the Beginning) it's at the end of the CD. I'm pretty sure that is the one your are looking for! It is on that soundtrack though!
