Gonna call that number after consulting our legal team. My initial thought thought is that someone left a tuna can open overnight. If it sounds too good to be true........

(if they want $$ upfront to participate, it's a scam.)

(still the best) Hated (band in town).....

We got the e-mail and I did'nt reply (seemed a little shady) but they ended up calling me and said they were setting up appointments to speak with band members about the festival. So I went ahead and set up the appointment. I think if worse comes to worse you pay the $70 and are garunteed to play at the Launchpad. Which isn't really a bad thing because I'm sure there will be alot of people there.

We got one too.
Did every fucking band in town get one?

I sure don't like the idea of paying to play, especially at The Launchpad, where we usually expect to GET paid.

This is all my fault.

Every band that plays MUST pay 70 dollars. Its first come first serve deal. Talent not needed, only cash. It says so right on their site.
However, it does seem like you can 'win' something, some how.

What Would Hüsker Dü?

Fuck this shit. If you wanna pursue it, I have some time share info we need to talk about when you are done. Also, I need $50 from all of you so I can tell you all about being your own boss with wireless internet machines at the airport. Act now! The best locations are filling up!

Sure, I'll play it!

The web site makes the whole thing seem way too elaborate to be a full-on scam.
I can see small towns subsidizing the larger shows though (Launchpad isn't mentioned on the site, and the site search finds no Albuquerque)

It's probably all moot for my band anyway, as we are broke for this week and most likely richer bands will fill those slots .

We didn't get an email. I guess this is one case where not exisiting actually helped us.

Like GFX said, they have the Launchpad booked for over a week for this thing. I noticed it months ago when I was looking at their calendar. I wondered what it was....

Wierd... I JUST got an e-mail about it on myspace too. hmmm... well actually I was able to find Launchpad on their site. I clicked on the "Emergenza Clubs" Link... then from the "Best Venue" drop down box, selected US, then went to the next drop down box and selected launchpad..... ok so their is some digging to find them, but their in there.

I agree it does sound like an "International Battle of the Bands". But 75.00 to sign up? Yeah thats kinda wierd. I dunno, hopefully someone will help all of us shed some light on this thing.

well at least we were contacted through myspace.

Well foodstamps it says the following:
"Support slots at the tweeter center (30,000 capacity venue) in Boston, 6 weeks free professional recording, songs on nationwide/European compilations and submission of your material to our label and management partners, are a few of many projects that are also available. "

So I guess thats the "prize" or something

No, I was just saying that now that Green Day has been documented as the best band on the planet, what's the point of an international battle of the bands? Maybe the winner gets to "Go up" against green day for the Masters of the Universe title. Now THAT would be something. Plus, even if you don't win the title, maybe you could win aset or two of strings and maybe an Ernie Ball ass pack. That'd be sweet, too, kinda like those crane games where you end up paying five bucks to "win" a 20 cent piece o' crap.

I'll still play!
