ASCAP or BMI?

What's the reason for signing up as publisher if you are signed up as the writer?

Is it best to do both?
If I do both will I make 6 cents back in stead of 3?

ASCAP, And BMI are coke and pepsi, good news is, is that they are both here for the artists! and either one would be fine.(ASCAP was started firsts in like the 1920's)they take samples of what radio stations are playing and sound scan and figure out how much how much an artists is "paid". so make sure you have CD's with the right bar code on them. If you have your own publishing company sign up as a publisher! cause you will need to show all your info ie
your tax numbers your license to do business.
and as a songwriter its alot easier paper work.
