Hey, Alibi is considering putting an event featuring Albuquerque's shittiest bands. Obviously, the shitty bands won't be lining up to play at it, so I'm thinking we could open it up to shitty bands specifically created by both musicians or non-musicians for the show. Would anybody here be interested in getting your suck on intentionally intentionally for a change? Or is it just a dumb idea? I was amazed that O'Leary got 200 people to show up to a zombie crawl. Sketchfest. Maybe Schockfest.
Yes, I've found that all bands suck unless I'm in them... and I've even heard rumors that the ones I'm in suck, too.
Haha. I remember we were breaking in a new bass player and right before our first gig with him (golden west) he told me that he had figured it out - the whole thing was a massive practical joke engineered by his ex-girlfriend. We were going to get him up on stage, then his ex-girlfriend was going to jump out and ridicule him. He honestly believed that! Somehow I talked him into playing the show. His ex-girlfriend never jumped out.
We'll sound like a three year old girl having a temper tantrum if you get us drunk enough. You might as well just have noise band fest. It would be the same.
Non-musicians would obviously sound like noise bands, sure, but musicians could take the opportunity to mock the things they hate. For example, I might write a tuneless song about love that just goes from A major to F# minor over and over again for three minutes and sing it with an affected rock accent.
Will there be a submission process? Is there a fee? How many bands in Albuquerque do you think will submit for a shitty band contest? We should trick Brokencyde into entering. They'd get in.
