From Spin magazine (I'm paraphrasing):

Last year the Ramones sold 40,000 cds and 1,500,000 t-shirts.
They never had a gold album, but have a few "platinum t-shirts."

Even assuming some of those who bought shirts already owned an album, I wouldn't be suprised to find over a million poseurs out there! Don't even get me started on the shower curtain and flip-flop sales. Although I have to admit to buying the shirts of bands while stealing their album off the internet on at least a couple of occassions, and I know I bought every Ramones album I have used- so take the statistics as you will.

Also: invest in t-shirts.

I guess the Ramones estate only gets 2$ per shirt though! It was like finding out Michael Jackson only gets .99$ off each album. People get into some poor deals.
