Not really into their style, but one time at an At The Drive In show, I scored a pack of Zig-Zags and a 16th of blow. Both items flew out of Cedric's fro, and hit the floor next to me.

I've seen the Mars Volta 5 times lives. All 5 gigs were headlining shows where tix were less that $15.
The best one was in Denver at the Bluebird. Saul Williams and Rye Coalition opened. Best $12 show I've EVER seen.
Nothing else even compares.

You obviously didn't go see Petty. The best 5th row center free show I have ever seen. Hell best show I have ever seen period, even better than when I saw Petty at the Whiskey.

I like At the Drive-In much more the The Mars Volta. I'm not into music that's too convoluted for comprehension. I know I was listening pretty hard too because I got a headache from it. I think I just need to take them in small doses. I am pretty proud of the two guys from El Paso, though. It's cool to hear about successful bands that come from your hometown. Weren't one of the guys in ATDI & Mars Volta from Sparta too?

We played with those fuckers at Atomic last time they came through. It was a sunday night, 3 bands, first band (Thieves of Always) goes on at 9. They went on at quarter to 10. We had to cut our set in half and PTSD(whose singer/guitarist is now in Victimas) got to play 2 songs. 2. Thieves of Always sounded good, but I didn't like them acting like rockstars. At Atomic. On a Sunday.

Oh man. I'm a big At the Drive In, Mars Volta freak. I would kill to see them live. If you like that, check out 31 Knots. Heard their show here was strange (had to work, couldn't make it) but their albums are rad rad rad. Rad.
