Yes Mother.
Hence the unusually brief (for me) link.
Hey, I'm trying to get along here and try and blend in with all y'all cool kids.

(hey! everyone's hanging out in general chatter! i wanna play too! hey mc! pick me, pick me!)

But I realize I more than deserve a drubbing for my past behavior as Posting Cop* Thank you for your lack of short term memory mc. Just know I have an extra eye on you buddy. Oh yeah!

*bitchy old crackpot.

Don't know about all those details, but a live recording is actually a good idea for Black Maria to release - your live vibe is killer.

It's not a typical RS thread until somebody gays it up a little.

I have been hearing about the new Black Maria album for about three years?! Do you guys even play those songs anymore?...Hopefully you guys can release the album before you forget that you even recorded one. I also find it very strange and of questionable action to plug your bootleg album on the night of someone else's CD release? While I am excited to hear both albums (DRS and BM), it is obvious to me that you could have chosen a better moment then the night that DRS is releasing their album to bring your new disc to the people...afterall shouldn't the night be about them? That is selfish and inconsiderate to DRS.

What?

"Strange and questionable" are more than applicable discriptions of Black Maria and their actions. As far as the timing and whatnot----it was never considered disrespect to Devil Riding Shotgun (who by the way, were pretty much the only folks interested in picking up a copy). We consider ourselves on more than friendly terms with those vatos, and if pimping our little cd-r was/is a problem, they would have spoke up. No hard feelings. It's not a competition. We were not overshadowing anyone. And with all the strong feelings about our lack of a release, what's with the gripe over our timing? Not saying you could be right or wrong. In fact, it only re-enforces the point that we could use a mature, responsible individual to help motivate and coordinate our shit.

Being a man of strong, yet well thought out opinion, would you be interested in the position, [B]Bruno Benti??

Thats too bad if you really consider your actions questionable? or is that a joke?
I am a man of logic and logic would lead me to believe that bringing a long awaited CD to sell, give away, or whatever to someone else's CD release is not the coolest way to support your vatos. Especially if you are Black Maria one of the larger rock acts in Albuquerque, come on Black I know I don't need to explain this to you.

You are right there is no competition in Music, and respect is something that unfortunately seems to be elusive between bands sometimes.

My small insignificant gripe with the timing is that your good friends are trying to get their disc out there and that is where all the focus should be for that one evening, on DRS, naturally thats why they invited you to the party to help support their disc. Which I heard was quite a PARTY!!!

Thank you for the offer to help "coordinate" a band who prides itself on being in disarray, I will kindly pass. My lady and my three little ones are plenty to coordinate for me these days...good luck with the disc Black.

What?

Sorry Devil Riding Shotgun, I didn't get a chance to listen to your new disk ... I was too busy listening to "Black Maria Live in Dubai!!!" Big Grin

Just kidding ... I don't think Black Maria was trying to step on any toes and I think all of us bands were glad that BM has given us something extra to put into our CD players. BM really rocked in 2003 and the disc leaves me wondering where that shit was really recorded and why those songs have dropped off of their set!!???

Point's taken.

For the record (as it were) a mere announcement of the availability of a raw, unmastered live recording , is far from either an "official" album release, nor is said recording the album/recording that it seems many here think it is. What we have available (along with shirts, stickers, buttons and patches) is just that---available merch. The stuff most bands take to any gig. Someone else's release gig or not.

The woman hawking our stuff in fact asked permission from the DRS crew to set up, for the very reason(s) you are bringing up. Perhaps if y'all were able to get a sitter and head up to Albuquerque last Friday, you would have seen that what is apparently a big deal here in cyber-space, meant nothing in the real world that night. To think the focus was on anyone/anything other than D.R.S. and their special evening is perposterous. Again, if you were there, you would know that. And for all the time and observations you have made in these fourms, you should know better than to allude that there is any "elusive"-ness in terms of respect between Black Maria and just about any band, anywhere (exceptions being the obvious LieberLagooonThinhairManiac types)

And again, you need to get out there and see the interactions in person. Judging what goes down at a show on any given night by what one reads on a message board populated (for the most part) by music heads wasting time at a day job is not only a poor representation of reality, but a prime example of how I can be goaded into a massive, run-on sentence.

I do understand what you are saying and where you are coming from. I am not trying to defend our actions/poor timing/whatever. I am trying to make it clear that;

1) bands bring merch to all their gigs.

2) no one in Albuquerque really buys that stuff anyway.

3) we have been struggling to release a real album for a few years. from what i'm seeing here, some people are anticipating it (hence the live release in the interim) and other's like yourself, who could give a fuck. it's all good, and it has nothing to do with dissrespecting anyone

4) thank you for your positive words. i always appriciate your opinions, humor and ability to cut through bullshit around here.

I was stoked to have the chance to get my hands on the Black Maria cd (and t-shirt). We had no problem whatsoever with any of this and had not actually given it any thought until reading this post.

We appreciate the sentiment Bruno, but no worries bro. It was a great night of rock and brotherhood.

Peace and hair grease.

Yeah, those two tracks rock. I especially like the massive sound of the 3rd track. I'm also curious as to where this was recorded. Window Rock maybe?
