What Would Hüsker Dü?

The King of Beers has been coronated as lord of the realm here tonight. I got too darked out from all that Sam Adams stuff. And I had a lot of it! Anyone remember Celis Grand Cru? Damn. The closest thing I have come up with to that is the New Belgium Trippel. Mmmmm.... Cloying!

I didn't see this post until today, after I had a guinness with breakfast. I like guinness OK, but it was on sale at Smith's, so I grabbed a few 6 packs. Every time I go to grab some beer, I have to fight the urge to grab my standbys. My new fav is Old Chub. The Sam Adams brewmaster pack is decent, but any fruit in my beer and it makes me want to get sick (cherry ale??? yuck!), and that goes for any lambic ales. The guinness has made me groggy in the evenings, and I rather stay active and alert. I prefer the 'head' of a wine buzz, but the cost of good wine is usually out of my budget, and I loathe cheap wine. I feel, after drinking as much beer as I have lately, that I'm going back to the whiskey soon. I like Maker's Mark and Bookers, but really the cheap stuff (or well drinks) is fine with me. I was told recently to try some of the rye of a more popular brand (jim, jack, or somesuch), though the suggestion was from a questionable source (a total alcoholic who will drink anything). Thoughts on rye?...

That's a good one; I was drinking some of that earlier this week. Same brewery, another good one: Dale's Pale Ale. Had some of that last night. It's weird to see good beer come out of a can, that's for sure.

Great grain, hard to work with in beer. I don't really drink much whiskey.

I tend to be a big fan of gin at times to, I drank Tanqueray over the weekend, with some tonic, or some sprite. Good shit!

I've been into Rooibus tea (red tea, grows in south africa). It is somewhat remniscent of black tea, but a bit sweeter.

Dales! it is a good surprise.

I tried Trader Joes Scotch. cheep $12. it was ok.

I tried Dewars 12yr Scotch. much more subtle than trader Joes, until the firey finish.

Second Street Brewery in Santa Fe: Scotch Ale is outstanding!

Some of the Trader Joe's single malt stuff ain't bad. Never had a Dewar's above White Label, but I can almost guarantee you that if there's a blended whisky in my house, it's going to be poured into some ginger ale.

Tonight is shall be Busch. Think I'll go hang out in the garage. Got some of this, too, just in case I run out of the Busch, though. I'll bet the Busch tastes better...

Feeling brave? Know that Billy Carter's fave was supposedly PBR...

Hey, thanks! Like clocks, do you? I got more old clocks than you can shake a stick at. Not the electric kind, either. The tickety tock kind.

I love quality beer. I had some Red Stripe this weekend. But I'm also a dirt poor alcoholic more interested in altering my brain than drinking something that tastes good. I drink a lot of Ice Beer. I would be dead by now if I drank hard booze. Be careful - you might end up a pathetic alcoholic piece of shit like me if you don't put a check on all that drinking!

I got a mixed 12 of New Belgium at Jubilations this morning. It has a new beer in it called Mighty Arrow that's pretty good. Sadly, no Abbey or Trippel.

Here's a gratuitous clock pic for Jeremy if he's interested.
