Nice to see you back on RS, Ms. FM.

I'll certainly point no fingers at anyone in particular. I also believe that the oil rags started the fire, but I believe there's just a lot more to this.

likewise nice to see you both still alive and kicking.

the thought crossed my mind when it happened, especially when the incident was described to me as "the linseed oil soaked rags spontaneously combusted."

while i recognize that factors such as ventilation could cause something like this to occur...well....Baterista already articulated that which i'm reluctant to.

and if that's the case, then shame. shaaaaaaaaaame. like a bad dog: shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.

Marisa's piece on the Launchpad is incredibly sad, but once again, THERE'S MORE TO THIS THAN WE KNOW. Given the Launchpad's history with Field Marshal von Chavez, and also given the fact that I'm sure the city would LOVE to put a Starbucks in that space...shit. The whole thing I think is sick. Was the Golden West cynically sacrificed in a heinous arson attack that was directed at the Launchpad? Does there exist some kind of connection between Kathy Zimmer and the City of Albuquerque?

Not even making allegations here, but it's getting ridiculous.

What a heartbreaking article by Marisa. Why is it politicians so often fail to realize that a thriving local music scene helps make the city a more attractive place overall?
Same thing happened in Chicago - pick any club where the real estate values start soaring and watch them get shut down through political manipulation, new condo owners, and police harassment. Only owners with connections can keep operating. Some of the best clubs in that city are gone and in my opinion the music scene has never been the same since.
That said, downtown is a ridiculous zoo on weekends and maybe relocating isn't such a bad idea. Also, this city is getting big enough that it could probably even support 2 nice mid-size clubs like Launchpad.

I'm I the only one that has noticed that the hot dog guy on 4th and Central and a few are his homeless homies are totally selling crack (or something)? Maybe the cops should harass that little fucker!?

Tolerance, my friend. TOLERANCE. You need to let go of the hate within your heart. It's eating you up inside.

Downtown sucks for the most part. The only reason I go down there is for shows and Owl Green's once and a while. This town really needs another area for music/arts etc. someplace away from all the bullshit.

What you guys need is a hidden desert oasis where you can rock out in the open air, having sex and drugs to your hearts' content without fear of interference from the fuzz. I bet some of the highschool kids around here know a good place. They always have the best drugs.
