Well, it’s been a while since I’ve Squawked. New job, Grad School, blah, blah. Over the weekend I had some time and tried to “catch up” on what’s going on. Although some things seem the same---new bands complaining about not getting shows

, and the ever present Levi Eleven

—there are lots of new folks and new bands. But I’m wondering what happened to those who used to be on this site ALL the time? I’ve learned that Martin Sheen, who was one of the constants and frequent starter of non-musical threads (endless Simpson’s quotes and the gastrological activities of his band mates

) has recently re-appeared after some mysterious financial difficulties. From what I can glean, one time RS celebrity Gio and her band Hit By A Bus, continued to grow frustrated with their inability to grow beyond the all ages crowd, joined forces with that idiot bullshitter Jonathan Liber

, burned some bridges, got burned by Liber and are now humbly trying to integrate back into the Albuquerque scene. But no where near the posts or attention she once drew

. One of my favorite RS celebs was Pez, from Dirty Baby Dolls. A real sweetie, but apparently Dirty Baby Dolls broke up and some of them went the Liber route. So where are they now? And what about the Grande Dame of RS, my old pen pal Bassgrrll

, and her ‘almost always posting after her, “Yes Sir, I Like IT!” Mr. Horse? What happened to the band she was starting? And Mr. Horse

? Such a great guitarist.
I noticed that my favorite hasher, The Metal Maniac is without a band, but has a website! The Unknown Shredder

. But where is he on these forums? And his pals in Astray? What happened to my pal, the all caps posting decoy666

? And Gnostic Dave? It seemed like he always had something productive and positive to contribute

. And no Crack Smoker? What about that tourqued up guy from White Rose Movement? He kind of morphed into Sushi Taos

, but there seems to be little activity there as well. Camero Matt is still around

(I still say he, Don Schrader and Wiccan Earth Goddess are all the same, wicked funny alias), and still fooling people into believing he’s a real person

! Stormcrow got deployed and broke up, but I see a band called Winterlock carrying the banner of dudes in the military trying to be in bands. (

Shouldn’t you guys be defending our country or fighting some war or something?) And what about Medieval Jake and all the other Metal posters? You guys used to own this place (sort of)!

It is neat to see so much musical discussion here. (All the sit-com quotes, cartoon show quotes and home star runner obsession was getting weak.

) And there is defiantly more unity amongst the different bands and styles

. It seems like a more “mature” crowd these days. Less high schoolers and wow, Kiddie Land (the forums at the bottom of the page) is now down to just one forum! I guess they all grew up and moved away? And it’s great to see bands like Devil Ridding Shotgun and SuperGiant joining bands like Dead On Point Five and of course the best rock band in this state, the mighty Black Maria

in continuing with the mantle of ROCK! (It’s ALL about the Rock!) Romeo Goes To Hell and Unit7Drain have both seemed to not only hold onto top band in town title(s), but have moved forward in their styles. Cool! And lots of new bands! Some I’ve seen, some I will see soon! When I moved here from San Francisco four years ago, I was afraid I would be deprived of one of my favorite activities---seeing quality, live shows. RockSquawk was my starting off point that opened the door (and my eyes) to some of the best bands I’ve seen anywhere! It’s neat to see this board up and active and sharing the info with not just other musicians, but us fans. Us lover of good, live music!

Wow, I sure did have a lot of questions

! I hope someone or someones can provide some answers. Meanwhile, I’ll keep checking this board, get out to live shows when I can and hope that everyone here, past and present is living well and rocking out!
