Fuck. His was a sad story, but he was undeniably a genius. Too bad he spent it all so quickly - the rest of his life was pretty anti-climactic - a casualty of LSD, living in Mum's basement.

His legacy is there for anyone to hear, though -

Piper at the Gates of Dawn (Pink Floyd) has some of his best stuff, but his solo releases (esp. The Madcap Laughs) are filled with musical surprises.

R.I.P., Syd.

He was the definition of a mad genius.

A great and inovative guitar player, singer, composer, etc. The Madcap Laughs has some really powerful songs.
