Krazy Kat Records on Central was busted today for selling pirated cd's. They raided the place and found 7,500 pirated cd's and a rather large duplicating setup for making the fakes. Yep, 7,500 pirated cd's. Does Natural Sound even have 7,500 cd's in stock, Ryan? This is how they've been selling cd's for cheap. The State Attorney General's Office is prosecuting the case. Also, they are running the story on Channel 4 News tonight at 10:00, and they interviewed me about it. What makes me qualified to speak about it, I have no idea, but my buddy works for the station and thought it would be good to get a "local musician's opinion" on it. I doubt ol' Bobby Box will be reppin' Krazy Kat any more on Big Oldies 98.5.....
From what I saw on the news, it looks like they were just copying onto plain CD-R's and shoving them into white sleeves. $5 bucks a pop compared to 17.99 so I imagine that they probably had no shortage of people wanting to buy them. Krazy Kat isn't shut down yet. I always had a feeling something was up with that place.
Hey Maury, had I known you were gonna be on TV I would have asked you to plug my show on Saturday!
