Lets face it, a singer makes or breaks a band. Finding a good/creative singer who can sound good, look good and write good lyrics is next to impossible. We've heard our favorite Drum and Bass. Who are the badass local singers?

There are tons of bands I haven't heard but from what I've seen Jason Daniello gets my vote, hands down. He's got what it takes... Amazing songwriter, awesome singer and great guitar player. I wish I convince him to sing for my band.

The Roxieharts are my favorite local singers. Amy has the pipes, man.

In no real order, my other favorites: Creepshow, Lousy Robot, Unit 7 Drain (especially with Ella doing backups, the only voice I'v heard really mesh with Harry), Feels Like Sunday, Ki, The Foxx (all of them), The Dirty Novels, Black Maria.

Those folks fucking sing. My favorite singers of all time are David Byrne, Mark E. Smith, and David Yow, so I like something interesting.... not just "good" like Bono or some shit. The more I sing the more respect I have for "good" though. I wish we had a real singer. I think it's our weakest area. Our lyrics are good-we have something to say-just not strong voices. (Lousy Robot has the best lyrics in town by a wide margin I think).

I'm sure I'm missing some here.

To toot my own horn...
I love juliet's voice and always have. She can hit notes that will blow my ear drums up and that always amazes me.
So yes...juliet foxx...amazing.

Other contenders that I like:
Nobody will ever beat scared o' caca dave in the punk arena.

For having the most beat up voice on the face of the planet my trophy would have to goto rexx ruthless.

In the hardcore realm -- miles from fukrot could summon demons when you got him to sing.

Unique voices are definitely harry of unit7 and john from gingerbread patriots.

Uh...have i named everyone yet?

Well, I agree with Levi. Jim has some super lyrics. And personally I like his singing style.

Pablo also has good lyrics. I like them becuase they are dirty! Who else in town would sing "if you go down on me, Ill go down on you"?

I think billy of both the bellmont and wmds can put down vocals like no one in town. he has his own style and it's not boring like a lot of vocalists.

The chick from Creepshow sounds like she's channeling Glenn Danzig-- she's got this big, powerful, sexy voice

Juliette is orgasmic in at least one Foxx song -- what's that one called, "Sweet Inspiration"? Fuck yeah, girl. And let's not forget what she did in The Rondelles, either! I'd like to cover that whole first album sometime.

As far as male vocals, the dudes from Soular and Old Man Shattered have pretty unmatched range and control over their voices (locally, anyway). Without them, I doubt I would have given either band a second thought.
Oktober People wins for vocal emotiveness.
The Drags win for attitude.
Flake Music takes the all-time local cake.

Mmmm ... and there's so much more ...

Squawk on.

I'll continue the trend and compliment all the singers I've played with, too.

Michelle from Shine Cherries is my favorite.

Also a big fan of Paul (Novels), Levi (RGTH) and John (Gingerbread Patriots). And that post about Billy is right on. That guy is fantastic.

In the '90's I was in a side project called The Young Black Sabbath Teenagers. Two drummers, three, four guitars, a couple of basses, a horn section and all kinds of crazy shit. Michelle was our singer. You haven't lived untill you've heard Sabbath tunes (w/a horn section) sung verbaitum, with that Ricky Lee Jones-ish voice of hers! Fucking gold.....

(still the best) Hated (band in town).....

I gotta send some respect to the two singers from The Gracci. I think it may be more about looking cool than anything else. Along those lines I also gotta send respect to Black Maria.

I like the Five Minute Sin guy. He's got a good style you don't hear too much of in this town. And a big voice. So that's cool. The Creepshow girl is killer, too.

+1 U7D vocals. Reminds me of Eddie Vedder and Ed Roland (collective soul).
+1 Go-go (that's her name right?) from Creepshow. Her voice and looks are first class=)
+1 The Plastics vocalist
