We get several a day most days. They just look at the top artists rankings in a city/genre and send out a form email asking for help booking shows. The emails always say the same thing "We'll hook you up if you're ever in __________" Yeah, right.

yeah, seriously! We asked bands for help on our tour but they were mostly bands we had played with before.

i no longer check our myspace page, so i don't know how many we get. however, i can tell you that we have made some of our best friends through helping out touring bands. we helped out this one band shinobu from san jose once, and since then we have played with them something like 12 times, and gone on tour with them once, and since we helped them out that one time they always help us when we go to the bay area, we always help them when they come to town. we helped out a band from chicago once, the singer moved to LA and now works at the knitting factory, so anytime we go to LA we have a show at a good venue. those aren't the only times show trades have worked out for us via myspace either. so, myspace messages can definitely be a dead end, but they CAN be helpful. just gotta weed out who you think is legit.
