Well?

Question:
Who do you feel is the more accomplished musician now that they're dead?

Choices:
Hendrix
Cobain
Marley
Cash
VanZandt
Rhodes
Denver
TuPac
Elvis
Good Country Music
They're still out there somewhere!
Zappa

If we start throwing around words like "more accomplished" then Frank Zappa really belongs on that list.

Not to beat a dead horse here but it's hard to believe a shredder like yourself would omit Dimebag Wink

The part I latched onto was "more accomplished now that they're dead." Tupac has put out more albums dead than he did alive, and Cobain is an untouchable legend who never had a chance to start to suck. If the criteria is death-as-a-career-move, those guys take the cake.

*sigh* I wish I was dead...

I can't believe Cobain is even on that list.

You left out Mozart, Beethoven, Shostakovich, Chopin, Bach, Dvorak, etc.

People are still listening to and playing their music hundreds of years after they died.

Hendrix is the only one on the list that can hang with these big dogs and I also second the Zappa motion!

Now you can vote again this time with more Zappa!! And I left off Dimebag because he hasn't put anything out since he died... as far as I know anyways... but yes he was an amazing amazing guitarrist. And I left off Motzart etc. because I was going for a more "Current Music Feel". They certainly were influential and still are but they've been dead for an extremely long time I only wanted to cover "Rock".

Frank Zappa was a plagiarist hack. He stole his entire persona and sound from Captain Beefheart. My brother Rick told me that when he played with beefheart in the seventies Zappa was always around lapping on the captain's balls, plus beefheart told Rick that when his band started Zappa was always around trying to insinuate himself into the group, then he gave up and founded his band. I also just think that Zappa's stuff was trite, especially lyrically.

i think mr. nobody hits this one spot on. and sloppy.

if zappa didnt tell fart jokes, he would be just another twitchy-fusion dude giving jazz rock a bad name. his humor has spared him.

duke ellington is certainly not more accomplished dead than alive.
