Why hasn't anyone said anything? but seriously. comedy has been "borrowed/stolen/played out" whatever you wanna say by every comedian. in fact all stories have been redone. i think it is really hard to actually say something is "original" because take for example, the star wars trilogy. why is it that one can find a ton of allusions to the bible in it. and don't forget about all the archetypes that make up the characters. the point of movies is entertainment. take a basic story everyone has heard, and put it in the format of space. guaranteed successful.

Allusions are one thing, influence is one thing, plagurizing is something else. Joe Rogan always calls out swipers; it's probably his only good feature (he isn't funny). I've seen Dennis Leary do Bill Hicks material word-for-word. Bill Hicks is funnier, and makes you think more, and I never would have known who he was otherwise. It was clearly no accident then, and I've seen him point out enough other examples (and seen clips of examples) to think he's right this time. Rogan got banned from that club for calling Carlos out. And Carlos keeps blocking the youtube clips for copyright infringement! That's hipocracy in my book. If he can't at least own up to similarities, admit to hearing the other material he uses, he's clearly hiding something. I'm one of those who believes there is nothing new under the sun, and everything is some level of rip-off. But Rogan is right in that in pretty much any other performing art something so close would be in court, and that the persons who came up with that stuff are working day jobs while Carlos won't even give them credit for making him rich. Not that I even think Carlos writes most of his own material anymore, it's probably one of his scripters who is guilty. If he'd just man up I'd let it slide.

And he's not the only person who says that stuff about Carlos.

Word that. And Levi's right, Bill Hicks is funnier/"smart-er" than Leary. That end bit that St. Hicks does about taking all the defense money and feeding/clothing the world and then exploring space together...damn. After a Hicks monologue, hearing some uplifting shit like that brought a tear to my eye. I think Carlos would not be able to pull off something emotional like that.

To be honest with you. I never knew that Joe Rogan was comedian. I always thought he was some schlub giving head to the right corporate pug. As for Carlos, I never got a laugh out of his show, so I have to agree with Stue Trory. They're fighting over bad material as it is.
