I miss an actual music discussion...What are some of your most overlooked/underrated gems?
One of mine is Pink Floyd's Meddle (I can's stand the Wall or Dark Side of the Moon, or even Pink Floyd, for that matter, but this album is genius)

I always thought of "Animals" as the most overlooked Pink Floyd album. But "Meddle" is definitely up there - schizophrenic in a very good way.

Three- Dark Days Coming. Started off with Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson playing with Geoff Turner and Steve Niles of Gray Matter. Ian left and Mark Haggerty joined. Just some really good songs. Comes from that mid to late 80's set of Dischord releases that all seem to get overlooked.

Maury, have you heard these guys? I know you liked Superchunk, they kind of have that feel.

I picked Flower of Disease, but pretty much any and all Goatsnake is criminally overlooked. You just can't get much heavier using a clean, melodic vocal style.

I dig many of the members' (Pete Stahl, Greg Anderson, Scott Reeder, Guy Pinhas, G. Stuart Dahlquist, Greg Rogers, a few more) other projects, but this band is the best thing ANY of 'em were involved with , IMHO...

Dude that is a REALLY good call! I love that album. But since you brought it up I'd have to say Pete Stahl's best showing was in Scream. Especially this album, which is THE most underrated punk album.

New Bomb Turks' first album. there's nothin like it, except maybe there second album.....
But after that it wasn't the same. Some of the grittiest garage punk rocknroll you'll ever hear.

I love that rekkid, too, but my metalhead/doomster side is much stronger than my punk side (note the schizophrenia of my first post), so I'll have to respectfully disagree. Scream was great, tho.

I had chance to see Goatsnake. My friend was telling me Pete had a new band so I went to check it out. I had never heard them before so I was expecting something more along the line of Scream. At first I was disappointed, then 1/2 way through their set I got over that. After the show I picked up Flower of Disease and I've it in my rotation ever since.

The first black flag i was introduced to was the pre-rollins stuff. I didn't like the rollins stuff at first as a result, but now its my favorite. "Slip it In" is a killer album

I really liked this one in highschool

I dropped the record and it cracked the first song on each side and I've never found a replacement.

Please! There's really no such thing as an "overlooked Pink Floyd album." In relative terms, compared to most bands. The only reason I can think of why someone would think MEDDLE was amazing but then shit on DARK SIDE and THE WALL is that they have a problem with outrageously successful and popular albums. Am I wrong?

I too, still listen to music I was into back in grade school. This makes me feel kinda childish, but good music is good music. I can still enjoy listening to EXIT STAGE LEFT which I got into in 7th grade. Don't care much for Black Flag though. I guess that puts me at odds with most of the people on this forum (?).

Well, you and Foodstamps have Pink Floyd in common.
