They then went into the garage and produced two little black boxes in which were two little clear plastic bags full of white bits. The cremains, apparently, were from their mother and father. The little black boxes were really cool.

I was pretty much dumbfounded about their storing of their parents in the garage for so many years, as they went on to describe. I can't say what happened next, but I think if you want to be cremated, a nice nice Nambe urn such as this, or this would be more dignified. I would prefer the latter urn.

Cremains are, apparently, illegal to spread. If you dump a bag of 'em into a planting hole, they may just blow right back up into your nose and mouth.

But I wouldn't know.
