I was just sitting here at work, listening to The Mindy Set when it dawned on me: I really fucking miss that band.

That is all.

Thoughts?

I miss 'em too. They're actually going to release the album they recorded and never put out. I think there was talk of making it downloadable from somewhere. There was even some talk of a reunion show, but it looks like that won't happen.

That hole has never quite been filled, right? even though some members' new bands sound good.

No other New Mexico band ever gave me the feeling I was soaring through outer space.

Triste indeed.

Were you stoned Jessica? Or just cruising on sound? You guys keep kicking me off the Weblog! But I've made it too easy for you. that last post was particularly pathetic. No REPUBLICAN would ever refuse to vote just because the sytem was fucked up! In fact, the more fucked up, the better!

Cheers, my little alcoholic friend!

I have no idea what you're talking about, and I get the feeling you've no knowledge of the Mindy Set, therefore have no idea what I'm talking about. Wrong conversation, dude.

Fro what I've heard, they had a cool if unoriginal sound. Overall, pretty amaturish. But so is Cat Power, Bat for Lashes, etc., etc.

cat power is good because she flows, something that Bush, Bickelnack and nkotb just do not understand.

simplicity often reigns, because it is born of honest inspiration, and not calculated construction.

that being said, i love king crimson's tech heavy stuff for what it is-
technically heavy, but BEAUTIFUL.

who wants to fight about it?

OK, I actually like Cat Power even though she is a bit amateurish. No, I don't want to fight about, just carry on a discussion. Saying that something "flows" is pretty vague. Just about anything "flows" and that word doesn't really cary much meaning in the same way you called me on describing production as "slick" or "polished." I guess my vocabulary is simply inadequate. To me, a "polished" production indicates that time was spent balancing levels so the various sounds mixed well together and complemented each other. Also that rough edges were cleaned up so that the music "flows" more smoothly. Smile

I'll fight about it with you, Stu! Even though I agree. Just speaking of King Crimson, Bruford's one of the best there will be. On that same note, anyone familiar with Liquid Tension Experiment?

even though i love most everything from the 60's and 70's, the best king crimson was easily the bruford stuff.

The Mindy Set was really mean to us when we played with them at the golden west a long time ago. They were wearing sunglasses when it was dark. One of our drummers cymbals dissapeared from that show. I don't think the mindy set did it but our drummer does. Anyway they've been the center of many inside jokes in our band since. Everyone else tells me that they were really cool, perhaps they were having a bad day.

i imagine 2 ppl in the band were wearing sunglasses, not me. Hey blame corey hart.
as far as your cymbal goes dont know dont care.
we never stole anything and its your job to get your shit out of the way and pack it up. normally i would apologize but not this time. i never sported any attitude towards anyone although i cant say the same for other members.
either way who the fuck cares???

I suppose Question mark has been posing since the 60s then? That guy has not shown his eyes in well over 40 years.

They definitely didn't steal your cymbals. They could throw up some attitude from time to time but I think it was only to weed out the crybabies.
