Anyone play at The Red Room in Las Cruces? We are playing a show there on March 10th with Opus Dai from Cali.

Is there anything we need to know about such as shady management, crazy man eating stages...

Never heard of it. We played at The Bean in Cruces though.

Is The Red Room an all ages place?

We should start a thread recommending out-of-town places to play. I highly recommend Jugheads in Phoenix. Sid, the owner died this past year, so I don't know how it's being run anymore. We're going back at the end of this month, so I'll let everyone know. I also recommend The Hole in Clovis. We played there like two years ago, before they had to move to outside the city limits. We're going back there at the end of this month too.

We play in Red River several times each year, but never at any of these other places mentioned. How is turnout in Cruces, Clovis, etc? It' hard to promote a gig in a town where you don't live and maybe don't know anyone. Anyone have any experiences with this?

Turn out in Clovis and Cruces was pretty good. Those are all ages venues, so it definitely helps to send handbills to the venues. Jugheads definitely requires having a local act popular to the venue. It's more punk focused, so we weren't exactly their usual kind of music. But people were cool and we got lots of beer.

We've had bad experiences out of town, for sure. Take El Paso for example. I won't go into details, but we sent the guy a bunch of flyers & handbills and he even offered a guarantee. We were pretty stoked. Turns out, there were less than a dozen people there, including the bar staff and the bands. Name of the place was Murphy's. It's now Rockabillies, I believe.
