DMMKY: "our drummer is under age AKA they don't like us."
We were banned from there during the time that our new guitar player Rachel was underage, even though we had played there previously to good crowds, knew the staff upwards of ten years, were regular customers, our other guitar player worked there and we are on the owner's label. It's their bar, they can make their own policies. Running a business is a hassle, especially a bar in the current political climate downtown. I worked in liquor briefly and saw co-workers hauled off to jail, fined thousands, and banned from working anyplace with alcohol for ten years. They are understandably careful about their livelihood in my opinion. They don't make exceptions for anyone (the Hollis Wake had to drive home to Santa Fe five minutes before a set because of an expired id) so why do you think they should do it for you, or are doing it for some other motive? We waited a year playing other places and then we went back and play there all the damn time now.
It's not personal unless you make it personal. I wouldn't sweat it.
I understand polices and I respect that. I’ve been done with crying over the atomic for almost a year now. lol but I simply just wont go in there anymore. I’m sure my lack of business to the atomic is NOT hurting them at all but its just the way I work. It’s a super cool place and I wish they were as cool as Burts with their polices but unfortunately for bands with under aged members they are not. Oh well, we’ll continue to play else where. **sniff, sniff**

Atomic isn't picking on you, they just don't let any underage musicians play there. Burt's does though.
Thats why Burts is BETTER! I don't feel picked on I just feel...... well, ok I feel picked on. lol
So let me ask this: Launchpad allows under-age members to play, but not hang out. This seems like a good policy. Can anyone clarify the actual law? Is Joe Anderson gonna get fined because of an under-age band member up on stage? And this is an aside for all the parents: Has your little one ever been to a gig of yours?

I'm not sure of the actual law. But the way I understand it is it’s all up to the venues “policy” It seems like most places except the Atomic allows under aged band members. Burts Launchpad 4th St Rallies District Elliots Golden West
