I saw him on Crossroads with Brad Paisley. He's actually a stupid good guitar player. Wouldn't know it from his pop stuff.

yeah, on one hand it's really unfortunate, on the other, the dude knows what he has to do to maintain a career. he puts out an album of pop songs, goes on tour makes a million dollars, then does a smaller tour with a blues trio made up of serious players.

Has anyone else noticed that he looks like a muppet when he sings? Seriously. His mouth opens from the top-his jaw stays stationary while the top of his head moves, like a muppet or Sesame St. character. Weird.

I don't like his music (his songs I mean: he can play), but he seems like a cool guy, reading his music-critic articles, seeing him on Chapelle show, apparently he forced the Office tv show to give him a "dundy" award for "tallest musician" etc.

I guess I figure there are lots of musicians who's music I like and probably wouldn't like them personally, so I'm ok with not hating him. I've never heard a song he wrote that I like though... sorry.

Also: my body IS a wonderland.

yep his pop songs are really, really lame. before he played sappy girly songs he was a badass blues guitar player. i saw a special on tv and he was on stage with buddy guy, clapton, bb king, a. collins, etc ... it was pretty sick.

but i cant stand his nauseating radio garbage songs and i really really really hate his face when he sings

if you got as much puss as he probably does these daze youd probably start singing that your body was a wonderland too Smile
here is axis bold as love

Got to agree with Levi. As a guy and fellow musician, yeah he seems really cool to hang out with. Plus, I'd love to jam with him cause the fucker can really play.

He went to Berklee, which means if nothing else he was up to his elbows in music school debt. Good for him. Write a fucking pop tune, make a living, play real music on the side. When he's my age he'll be living off royalties and playing whatever he wants for the rest of his life.

In retrospect, I sometimes wish I sold out after music school and played in a pop band for a while, just to have the freedom to only play music for a living. But I also wish I would have made a better deal when I sold my soul to the devil in '91, so that's what I get.
