So we're doing this contest thing on MySpace called the "Burnout Band Slam"... and I'm noticing a lot of really crappy marketing by the other bands.
Sure... of COURSE bulletin that you're in the contest and that you need good ratings to win. That's a gimme! But I've noticed a lot of bands saying, "Make sure you go through the other top bands and give them bad ratings so we get up in slots faster!" This seems like a bad promotion policy to me. I'm wrestling with the idea of doing the same. But if we DID win off those pretenses I'd feel like we kinda cheated the system. We're ranked 12th or 13th right now. Oh. Hell. If you guys wanna help us out please do! Oh! And if you're gonna give us a crappy rating just to be a dick, please don't. Enough bands are doing that already.  Rank ColdSnap!  |

I'm not sure if they're exactly "cheating"... but they're definitely trying to pad their numbers to get ahead. I just think it's a shitty way to win.
I'll think about it. I'd really like to win fair and square over the bands who are being big pussies and pulling that bullshit. |

Sounds like it has nothing to do with whether or not anyone actually likes the various bands` music.
For what little it`s worth, my vote is, leave that playground shit to the teenagers. You guys are better than that. Contests are silly when it comes to music, because everyone`s tastes are different. I wish MySpace would disappear already. But hey, that`s just me. Maybe the whole server will crash and everyone will wind up with `99 Red Balloons` playing on their pages (in Casio notes). |

Contests are silly. I agree. But I love the BurnOut series and I think I would get a stiffy the size of Tennessee if I was playing and a ColdSnap song came on. Hehehe... |

We went to check out the bandslam too. Gave you guys a 10 of course!!! But we are noticing the same thing.... out of a 10 rating the highest rating is like a 3 point something most of the time. Makes you realize just how much everyone is voting everyone down. Then again... may be the whole point of this thing is to "SLAM BANDS" but voting them down.

You guys got a ten from us as well. I don't know how many of those bands you have on your friends list but we apparently have quite a few. The bulletins that are being posted stretch through being demeaning (All these other bands are SHIT, etc etc) to just plain grovelling and begging (Please please vote for us and vote the other bands down, we really need this, blah blah fuckin' blah). It's really lame how some bands are approaching this. It's a silly contest. We're just posting saying, "Hey! Vote for us! Hope we win!" That and I really want to hear a ColdSnap song playing when I'm playing BurnOut... and I don't want it to be on the harddrive of whatever console system I may be using. =) Again. Stiffy the size of Tennessee I tell you! |
