I got caught up in Efren Ramirez's entourage when I was asked to carry some of his stuff to Sauce (I was volunteering at Club 7, where he was originally scheduled to spin). He was a nice guy, funny, even though at times it seemed he was trying too hard to live up to that reputation. But it freaked me out how retarded most people were around him. It really made me realize how celebrity status really can change people--it makes them more guarded, or like they have to live up to the expectations of everyone around them.
Yeah, I saw him a few times over the course of one evening. I have to say, though ... it was annoying that the folks trying to show him off didn't bother to learn his name. I heard his handlers alternately adressing him as "Pedro" or "Eh-fron" (3 seconds of MySpace research reveals that he says it "EE-fren"). He was wincing ... I felt for the guy.
Actually it was only one person who was really in charge, and that was Allie, somehow she got that job, when she wasn't supposed too. The person that was supposed to be in charge got so wasted that Allie took on the reponsibility. She was calling him Efren, and would correct people when they would call him Pedro, but Efren said he didn't care and it happened all the time, that most people don't know his real name anyway.

For sure. I hate all the expectations.
