I haven't had that happen, but it's only a matter of time.

You might want to apply a Remo Flam Slam (just a Kevlar stickie patch) to the area where your beater hits. It doesn't affect the sound, but it adds life to your kick head.

Yeah that happened to me about a year ago when we were opening up for Matt Rele, I was kicking away then all of a sudden my beater bar got stuck in my bass drum head.......I was like "Oh Shit!"..............

But since my bass drum head is a double ply I broke the 1st ply and the beater was getting stuck between the two.......But as the constant pro I am, lol, I had a roll of duct tape and taped up the head and moved the bar a few inches higher but I just ended up playing the rest of the set just a tad lighter on the kick.........

So since then I check my heads before every show and if one head is a bit iffy, I take an old spare........

But I'm glad you worked it out and finished the set!!!!

After the beater has impacted the head, REMOVE IT!!! Do you try to rebound off your snare, or are you trying to play through your snare head? Sorry, I don't mean to yell. But if you keep your beater against the head, it's gonna go through it eventually.

I know when i was a kid and first learning to play drums I had a crappy short shell drums set and in my first few bands I had to hit extra hard to be able to be heard.......So now 20 years later, now that I been blessed to have better kits I been cursed to a certain extent of having heavy hands and feet....Even when grooving I'm heavy handed and it takes a strong will to keep in mind to play soft!

I remember playing in a metal band about 4 years ago and the band stopping in the middle of the first song I eve played with them and them telling me I was the loudest drummer they ever played with......

So I been working on taking it easy on my poor kit! So I been doing good, I only go through 2-3 bass heads a year.....
