that there is a note (The Brown Note)so low that upon hearing it you will automatically shit your pants?

If so, I think our bassist heard the note the other night when he was passed out drunk.

check it

haha nice.
but on the serious note the brown tone has been around for a long time! the thing that sucks, is that Low Frequencies are Omni-Directional!
So whoever is using the Low Frequency to hurt someone, will end up shitting thier pants too!
so it would be one big happy shit party!

7Hz. So low however, that you can't actually hear it. And apparently octaves up from 7Hz do not have the same effect.

Mythbusters checked it out a while back. They put together a massive array of custom speakers (since typical speakers stop reproducing around 20-40Hz) and swept from 5-15Hz. Adam was is the center of the array with a diaper and headphones on. After several attempts Adam never shat himself, but many of the crew did become nauseous.

yeah, i saw that too... certain frequencies definately effect the body in different ways.... but they pretty much busted the "brown note" myth.

I was checking in a pretty big sound system at work on Monday (about 5k watts) and had a CD that had a few 20hz hits in it. It was pretty fun when my insides rattled around for a second or two. But the run to the can came from the extreme hot sauce and not the audio.

I think Garcia's Restaurant on Juan Tabo plays frequencies below 5HZ everytime I go there.

I wasn't too sure about that Mythbusters bit:

For one, he stood a constant distance from the speakers, and we all know sound waves have different effects based on distance. Wouldn't a wave so low be really long? Notice the crew further away felt sick. They should have moved the speakers around.

#2: He had hardcore ear mufflers on. Maybe a good part of the supposed effect has to do with it messing around with unprotected inner ear stuff? I'm thinking burst eardrums might make me shit my pants all by itself.

3: it might be different for different people? Wasn't Adam fine on some of the motion sickness test eps. and the water torture one? There was no control group and a really small sample (one).

I always have a problem with Mythbusters episodes where they test something dangerous and then use a lot of safety precautions. I don't know how accurate that is compared to unprotected conditions. I know they don't always show all the science/tests, etc on that show (it has to be entertaining) but that one felt kinda slim.

or maybe i just want to believe....
