So being the broke rasta that I am, I have to find relitvly inexpensive ways to do things. One of my favorite things is to load up with some brew and herb and head up to the Jemez springs.
So yesterday for mothers day I loaded up the wife and daughter and drove up there. It was a gorgeous drive, I really need to get away from all the asphalt and concrete at least once a week.
We get there and we hike up to spence springs to make some new friends and relax. When we arrive there is this dude greeting people and making sure everbody knows he's the life of the party.
It didn't take the guy long to get on my war nerve.
We had heard his inappropriate comments to some of the other girls there and so we just tried to ignore him so I wouldn't have to deal with him. ( we were hoping the bottle of cheep vodka he was sucking on would put him down, no such luck)
Somehow he gets next to my wife's drink and picks it up. I tell him, 'dude, thats my girl's drink' So he takes a big pull off of it and hands it to her....
I handed the baby to my wife and took the drink over to the fuck head and tell him to drink it. I also let him know quietly that if his direspect boiled over into my good time again, they would have to send life flight to get him.
Needless to say, I made a bunch of new friends of everyone else there. Nobody wanted a confrontation with him, but nobody wanted his brand of bull shit anymore either.
After his profuse appoligies, and him taking a seat on a rock away from the rest of us, we played reggae music on his guitar till the sun set.
All things considered, we had a great time at the hot springs again.

I lived in Jemez springs for over 6 years. I have more stories about stupid drunk idiots at the springs than I could ever tell on here. One time at San Antonio springs, a drunk white baseball cap wearing fratboy grabbed a female friend of ours between the legs... the rest is history. I'll just say he learned a good lesson that night.

Personally, I wish people wouldn't bring alcohol of any kind up there... esp. glass bottles. Hot springs aren't really a party scene. The best springs up there are the 'secret' ones that the city folk don't know about.

You couldn't pay me to get in those springs. A friend of mine got dengue fever from them. Nasty, bacteria-ridden, hippy-infested waters. No thanks.

Your skin contains about 1 trillion bacterial cells.

After I moved up here, I figured I had to go up and check them out. There were (probably the same) drunk idiots in there. After about 20 minutes the springs, the one drunk guy tells eveyone he hasn't left the spring in 2 hours and is just pissing in there. That was the 1st and last time for me.

Actually, mine only has about 999,999,987 bacterial cells. I'm avoiding that 1 trillion mark, that's why I stay away from Jemez. But seriously, I'm sort of a germ freak, so that's part of why I avoid Jemez. There have been many studies of water in hot springs and they have shown the water to be breeding grounds for disease. Does that mean you'll get a disease by going there and getting in? Not necessarily, but for a germaphobe like me it's enough to keep me away.

How is your body gonna build up a resistance to bacteria/germs with an attitude like that? Smile

The best time to go is early morning when the water is all fresh from being replenished all night long. Plus, I have never seen scumbags there at 6am.

You're going to have to tell me where those are, are they the ones without hippies peeing in them?

There's a warm spring up there with a reservoir area; I've drank the water from it many times. Its clean. You just have to keep an eye out that nobody has bathed in the reservoir for at least three hours. I get pissed when people go in there.

That's hilarious!

About a dozen years ago I got way stoned with two buddies and "hiked" or walked rather easily to one of the springs that was apparently more popular--fucking trash all over.
Well, there were a bunch of dirty ass hippies and some severly deformed retarded people soaking in one pond. Nothing against deformed retarded people or the hippies kind enough to take them out there BUT in my highness, I thought we stumbled on to some "Hills Have Eyes" action so we (I) got all freaked out, turned around and hauled ass back the car. I still never been back. Just Fenton to fish and that's it...still smoke weed though. go figure.
