Yeah, some day I want to meet Burt and shake his hand. When is he getting back from his tour of the South Pacific? (Is there a lot of rocking happening down there?)

I can agree that Burt's is a great Rock venue! There are a couple issues though that would send it over the top for me, they need more air flow and more bartenders...I have almost perished from beer dehydration in there twice. Getting served there is a challenge and so is breathing.
For my money the sound system @ Launchpad is absolutely top notch!!!
Burt's is not just about a sound system. And I've waited and waited and waited for a drink at the Launchpad. A single word. Atmosphere. I've been to and played a lot of clubs around the states and the ones I remember most are the ones with atmosphere. I love a dive. A dive bar, a dive food place...it's all good. Wait...another word is coming...integrity. It's a place where bands who are not as well known, signed or otherwise, can come and get a fare shake. Most of the mid-level clubs would say "who are you and how many people can you bring?" That's not to say Burt's Tiki Lounge is against making a buck. Come on. It's still a business. They just give everyone a chance to make good.
To Burt's...I say "bravo". Mvto for being the club you are. And special props to the booking.

Plus they know how to book a show. They don't just throw a bunch of bands together on a bill and say, alright we have a show. There is a lot of thought put into what bands go together to make a great line up.
Burt's has a feel like no other bar in town. Be it while I'm onstage, or in the crowd, it's a good place to be. I personally like the palce best on a Monday night, when the bar is half empty, and there's some original rock going on. I'll be sad when I can't sit there at the bar and smoke cigs anymore, but at least I can still get a Tsing Tao... a rare beer at an ABQ bar.
The lack of a larger stage and that "barrier" around the current stage is made up by the fact they are one of two bars in this town that honor my AARP card...
