Most of the stuff we play now is Screamo/Pop/Punk Rock but the Demo was only a 2 day thing.. But I e-mailed a bar here in Albuquerque (dont remember which) that you dont have to be 21+ years to play at and seeing if our band could get a gig there..Spice up the drunkies.. If not that Im trying to get a show at The Attic or anywhere else Local bands could start up at.. Any ideas or anything let me know..Thanks

Most of the bars will let you play except Atomic Cantina. They are far too paranoid about breaking the rules and supporting the scene. I don't care what any of you say, they are all about themselves and really could give to fucks if the scene gets better or worse as long as they can scrape by and not have to spend any money on anything.

The Launchpad will let you play but you have to be straight with them and play by the rules. You have to tell them you are under 21 and promise to stay in a booth where they can watch you. If you break any of these rules then they will ban you for life.

Burts probably won't even card you but you should let them know you are under 21 and don't drink just to be cool. If you get busted then they could loose their license, then there would only be one less place to play and everyone would hate you.

Attic is cool as long as you don't drink.


I would never tell anyone that you are under 21 until the night you play or you might not be able to get a gig. Except Atomic if you are under 21 they won't even let you in playing or not.

Hey Crackman, last weekend Romeo Goes to Hell (Racheal is not 21) played and they had another band that was not 21 play there....you are right about the owners being "paranoid", no one wants the hefty fine if they get busted...so just back off if you can't understand them being "Responsible"....they do understand the need to get bands (under 21 genre) in....but it will not be an "all ages venue"...but then again who knows that could change...and give me a break about them being 'tight wadded'..no one is getting rich over there, all the owners work shifts, and guess what...THEY "ARE" JUST GETTING BY...WHY??????? They are opening up the kitchen...hey bonus, now people can eat too....

Just wanted to set it straight, you are free to your thoughts crackdude..I do respect them..we have been through this before I know...time can only tell though, right?

I am all about resposability but you can have under 21 kids in a place and not have them drink. You just have to keep an eye on them and banish them if they screw up but that might involve spending money for security and having to actualy pay attention to their business. Go to New York sometime and see how many mixed bars there are there. I just want to know why someone would only want to get by. If they knew what they were doing then they would be getting rich and we would have a good venue to play. Its sad when the Launch Pad is the best place in town to play. I am just trying to encourage local business owners to have some pride and raise the bar up to other citys, no pun intended. We have a huge music scene here but not one good venue in which to play. Ever wonder why only musicians go out? Maybe its because other people don't like standing in a cold room on cold concrete everynight. It is possible to have a cool venue that is pretty. Bands don't have to play in a hole ask anyone that has played out of town. Not all bars suck just the ones in Albuquerque.

Your right..they don't..this is all new to them...they know how to be patrons..they know how to play in other bars...this is the first time any of them owned a bar...give them a break Crackdude...and please don't tell me you think the Launchpad is a 'warm pretty' place?!?!? That place is a cold concrete room just like the Atomic...if you want ambience(sp?) may I suggest Burt's..in my opinion 'very warm', very friendly...and hell tropical.....but you score on bad place to play...very small...they should have kept it the way it used to be when it was The Dingo....

I didn't say Launch Pad was warm and fuzzy in fact I said it was sad that the Launch Pad is the best Venue. I will not give anyone a break. They put themselves out in the public eye and embarrased themselves. Thats not my fault. If they don't like the critisism then maybe they should get out of the business, buy a helmet and teter back and forth on a bus stop bench. If they didn't know what they were doing then why didn't they find someone that did? Must be GREED. If they had someone who knew what they were doing then they might have to pay them. Better not take a chance having someone make a bigger cut than you. Its probably better to shoot your self in the foot that way everyone is even and you go out of business slowly instead of sticking around for 10 years.

Don't even get me started on Burts. What a joke. There is the best example in town of how NOT to run a bar. Can you say the worst service in town? Can you say the stupidest stage EVER! I hope they at least turned the air conditioner off. I was there a few weeks ago and almost got hyporthermia. I agree that they should have left the layout like the Dingo with the exception of having a door behind the stage instead of a window. It was also nice to have the games away from the bands that way you could play all rowdy and not interfere with the show.
