So Thunda and the LB team were walking around downtown last night, distributing flyers onto car windshields. I noticed quite a few U7D flyers (not just one, but two at a time... that's gangsta)... you guys must be the only other people in town who do this consistently.

We flyer every show we play, inside the bar and on windshields at good shows before our show, UNM, light-posts on central, and at record stores. in an average month we put out about 500 handbills and a hundred posters. Now we try and do all the digital stuff too, i.e. MySpace, here.
It is a huge pain in my ass, but if I don't do it I feel like an asshole-lazy-ass so.....thanks. |

that shit is some hard work. occationally we do the whole poster up and down central, but only for a damn good show, with a damn cool flyer. but handbills... jesus the last time was for a show a long time ago. but we're getting caught up with digital flyers/friend requests.
promotional work is definitely work, but well worth the end results. |

We sometimes hit up the Sunshine area too if there is a similar-genre show going on.
There hasnt always been a direct correlation between flyering effort/number of flyers and the turnout at our shows. However, I think over time (by time, last 8 months) it's definately gotten out name out. We used to put a lot more effort into the digital thing, but it doesnt really reach people as well (probably pisses people off more than anything). The best thing that's worked for us is just writing people back who like our music. |
