Yep. Last night, over cigars & brews, the 3 members of DRS got together for the last time.

Neb left this morning (if all went according to plan), and he's on the road to his new home in Portland, OR. I want to thank him for all the great music and great times over the past 3 1/2 years. I feel extremely lucky to have worked with this talented musician and to have been a part of DRS. I wish Neb the best in his future endeavors, musical and non. The Albuquerque music community's loss will be Portland's gain. I'll miss ya, buddy.

Feel free to add any of yer own sentiments regarding this bass-thumping, amp-humping, fuzz-blasting giant with the smoky, whiskeyfied voice.

Well....

Kinda numb at our loss, not only of a giant of a musical force, but also one of the few human beings I actally consider a friend. (yes, Alan I count you in that group.)Reality set in last night after smokes/beers, when I helped load Neb's gear out of the music room for the last time. Good luck, man!

Kinda excited to see where we go from here.

Life/music goes on. DRS does not. (At least in Albuquerque)

Very true.

And it just isn't Neb I'll miss. I also mourn the end of Devil Riding Shotgun. Y'all are the real deal. Outstanding musicians who were lucky enough to see the chemistry go beyond the music, and into each other's lives. The bond and friendship was not only evident in your music, but obvious in performance. The grace and style you cats ended with is humbling, and much like my thoughts of how y'all must feel, it's actually causing me to feel all choked-up. Damn, you guys had a hell of a run and I can only imagine the friendship that happened.

It won't be the same seeing RacerX and either Jon/John without Neb there---lurking in a booth with that sly grin, Rocking out to a band with that crazy ear-phone thing on, and perhaps most of all, ruling the stage--and with the combinded forces of you others-- killing it, gig after gig.

Best to you Neb. Best to you Alan and John. You guys are pure class.

All the way...

(still the best) Hated (band in town).....

Thanks for the props, black, and thanks also for the support Black Maria has always given to our humble little group.

Keep yer ears peeled - Jon & I have a little something up our sleeves. We just need to cook it for awhile...

No way! i didn't even know Neb was leaving! i can see the attraction to Portland though... Oregon in general seems very chill and a cool place to live.

I'm disappointed to have missed your all's last show but I was out of town. We're gonna miss DRS and NEB. I hope you get something new going real soon man! You guys put out some great music and helped keep this town heavy. I'm gonna miss his crazy stage antics. No one in town can hump an amp on stage like him, no one.

just fyi... I heard John (bass from Spiritu) was looking for a project. I saw him at Music go round a few weeks back.

WebMonkey - it was a really quick decision that had little to do with any attraction to Portland. Nevertheless, he has arrived safely and says he'll eventually try to get something musical happening up there. We wish him the best of luck in every arena.

Thanks for the sentiments, Jeremy. It's been quite a shock to all of us, but I'm already focused on building a new artistic vessel in which Jon & I can set sail anew. We'll miss our old buddy Neb, but we also look to the future with hope and optimism.

Bummer... DRS was one of my Favs! Good luck to Neb in all he does! I don't think I've seen a guy old enough to be my father rock out as hard as he did! I hope he finds success and happiness in all he does up there. Albuquerque lost an incredible musician and friend.

I've got five fingers and they want to meet your face!

Winterlock

Buy my band's CD on CD Baby or Itunes Right Now! Or don't.
