Any thoughts on this year's crawl??

Burt's was bumpin by around 9:30 or so, and we had a great crowd for our set.

Next we went over to 4th St. and checked out The Gracchi, who always rock out. They had a great crowd over there too. I dug the cub scout uniform there squawk jockey...

We got to see a bit of Unit 7 Drain's set outside at District and they were impressive. I hadn't seen them before...

The Memphis P-Tails brought some wicked blues into the mix at the Launchpad, and One Foundation followed and put on a chill reggae show...unfortunately Mystic Vision didn't show...what's up with that?

Overall we really dug the crawl, but it seemed a little less packed with people than it usually is. I was surprised to find the Launchpad nearly half empty toward the end of the night...and from other reports I've heard that the GW was a ghost town by midnight... anyone else get that vibe?

i was at the golden west, it was somewhat dead when Rage went on. also, they had technical difficulties, but thanks to supergiant, it got worked out fast. all in all, they got shorted out of time. yeah, i didnt have to wait in line for anything the whole night. what gives??

I had fun. i Didn't get to see many of the bands that I'd hoped to but ...

Lowlights: One word ... quality. as soon as my lady hears these guys i'll have to be at every show

Sin Serinade: suprizingly raunchly and pleasingly rockingly

5 Minuite Sin: great sound, crowd and performance but i know those guitars can go up!

Gracchi: gracefully accepted their stage at 10:30 and brought the rock that was so legit as fu@k that it was embarrasing to others

SuperGiant: great crowd, great natural reverb, but very hot on stage

Rage Against Martian Sheen: still coming out of nowhere and bustin out new ones after all these years. one song i've never heard them play before blew me away. unfortnately, a lot of people bailed b/f the tech. difficulties could be worked out

respect to the bands with the balls to set up their own outdoor stages ... and some impressive young talent out there

It was less busy than other crawls but there was still plenty of sketchy fu@kers on the streets and serious cops. It almost seems like the ghetto-mainstream-DJ crowd has become the very stong majority. it be nice if more people were downtown that night for the music

i think most of the people are down there for the ladies and not the music. and the ladies are all at the dj clubs. or so i would assume. either way it was a fun night. also, i saw those outdoor bands. i didn't know that was allowed. mad props to those who did that

Hey, what was the deal with the beer at the Golden West? The taps were closed! If you wanted a pint of IPA or something, too bad, here, have a bottle of Miller. (No thanks.)

I would think that crawl, of all nights, would be a good time to .. oh, I don't know .. BE OPEN FOR BUSINESS?

Anyway, some good rockin'. I started with Scenester, then Five Minute Sin, then a little of the Foxx (but it just ain't the same w/out Isaac) followed by no Gracchi because Ralli's was running late or something (hey, 10:20 and there's still no rock? I'm outta here) and a little Ground Beneath. Then SuperGiant and Romeo Goes to Hell.

..and then a bus ride home! Woohoo, I love finally living near Central. When it comes to transit, living near Central is almost like living in a real city. ;-) I guess the late-night busses end pretty soon, though. (Because people only go downtown to drink'n'rock in the *summer*, right Marty?)

6-Cherry Tempo, but missed new songs Frown
7-MindySet
8-Nobody specific
9-Lousy Robot/whoever was playing on the street
10-the Build
11-we played
12-left to pick up my son and went home exhausted but satisfied.
It was a rad night overall. Crowds were a little smaller than other crawls, but I'd rather that than wait in line for an hour.

7 - load-in at Ralli's/Burntown. The guitarist/singer had some pretty cool riffs & solos. These guys probably have a collective age of 55.
8 - we played. Skreech's processor started wigging out mid-song and didn't come back until the middle of the next. Then my voice turned into that of a 60-year-old chain smoker. I got a couple of free drinks though!
9 - Thanks to packing up equipment & parking the van, I only caught a little of ColdSnap, a song & a half from Holiday Sail, and saw Le Chat Lunatique tearing down.
10 - The Build, Unit 7 Drain, The Gracchi. I loved the Build's guitarist's shirt: Show Me Your Stats. Harry's voice was great, as always. I love U7D. My first experience with the Gracchi was beautiful. I almost got crushed by huge mafia-looking guys.
11 - Old Man Shattered. Too many hot boys in one band. By this time, I decided not to even attempt the line at the Atomic. Plus, Ralli's wasn't packed, but was full enough for good atmosphere.
12 - Feels Like Sunday. I love this band. Thank God I live downtown.

i thought the crawl pretty much sucked as an event, i certainly enjoyed all of the performances i saw, my comment is not reflective of the bands at all. i don't even mind paying $10 to see all the bands that i could see for free any other night of the week. but why not just call it dj night since half of the venues only had dj's "spinning beats", again, nothing wrong with dj music, but i think of the crawl as an opportunity to showcase albuquerque's many talented bands. why not just leave the hip hop clubs off the of list? or how about invite more of the local bands, some notable acts were left off the invitation list i guess. before you jump to the conclusion that i'm in a band that was not invited to the crawl, i'm not...i'm just a fan of of abq's music scene. what ever happened to the rocksquawk "mini crawls" anyway?

I had a great time Saturday night! I made it down to Rallies just in time to see some of Hit By a Bus and some of Coldsnap. From there we headed over to the LaunchPad and watched August Spies good band but I was hoping to see Five Minute Sin but I was out voted by the group of people I was with. They had friends in August Spies, so I missed Five Minute Sin. Sorry guys Frown
From there we went over to the District and watched Unit 7 Drain. I was a U7D virgin and I was totally blown away. You guys freaking rocked. Definitely one of my new favorite bands.
After that we met up with more friends who locked their keys in their car, we lost about an hour looking for something to open the door with and was lucky enough to get the car open but we missed Anesthesia because of it. However we made it in time to see my favorite local bands of all time, Oktober People. They of course played an amazing set.
Over all I had a great time and can’t wait until the Spring.

I had an excellent time at my first Crawl. I wish there more people into the music other than just there to be there, but other than that it was great except for the puke stain left on my toilet floor the next morning but it was good.

Who played in the dream? Was there free beer? Did the cops press charges or were they too humiliated to admit what happened?

It was ALL about free beer, and all sorts of 'Burque Fade Sportin', drenched in Axe Body Spray jerks being humiliated whilst Black Maria and their friends went on a Loft destroying rampage as the Crawl played on below. The soundtrack was kind of questionable, as I fell asleep (passed-out) to Late Night Coast-To-Coast A.M. with Art Bell (or maybe it was George Norrie?).

There were also girls and they were really happy!

Yeah I have no idea where they all came from though. They aren't a staple at the majority of our shows... we maybe only get a few at most.

Fun night though. We pretty much hung around Ralli's where our credit cards were getting abused by the bartenders there. Caught U7D kicking ass over at District. The bands at Ralli's were all top-notch and we had a hell of a good time.

YEAH!!! YEAH!!! YEAH!!! So most of this dream took place at Ned's? They just built "mixed use" lofts behind our Nob Hill house which helped us sell it for a ridiculous price. See? They ain't all that bad...
