Hadn't seen The Gracchi in a *really* long time before this Friday night (4/4/08). Too much fun. Love the drummer (and that kit!) Some great new songs I've never heard before and my long-time fave, "Standing In The Corner" where I had to set down the damn camera and rock out for a moment. Love these guys.

is that what you call that? i always referred to it as lucite 'cause i had no idea what those kits are made of. about 8-9 years ago at lauchpad the drummer from jucifer had a strobe going off INSIDE his vistalite kick. fun.

Towards the end, things got weird and out of hand, er, I mean "punk rock", (by no fault of the band, but of the other band, The Extravaganza) when one of its members (the idiot who's crouched next to the drummer Sandra in one of the pics below) threw 2 shots of liquor at their faces while they were playing, then threw the glasses on the floor breaking them. One of the barbacks was blatantly pissed at that (poor guy had to clean it up).

What???!! I was out in the alley taking photos and missed that part, I guess. That little dude was a shit-ass. It seemed (to me) like that was his first time away from his parents. So he got waaaaaaaaasted. Like, still learning how to drink drunk. Embarrasingly so.
Drunk punk is fine, but why stop every five minutes to tune if you can't play guitar in the first place? And he left his GODDAMNED ANGUS YOUNG SIGNATURE GIBSON SG laying in the middle of the stage after he was done playing. Deadly Companions played around it, and it was still there by the time we were up. $3,600 says the next time they come through, some one walks out the door with it.
All in all, it was a fun but marked with some weirdness for sure. Like a full moon night. And those photos rule! Not just the subject matter - the composition's cool too. Thanks for taking and posting them, CCC.

Squawk on.

Looks like this was a good show. Too bad I was playing punk in the basement of a retired frat house for a bunch of teenagers. I shuddered to think of past activities in that basement. We'll catch the next one The Gracchi plays.
