We get down to the 'Pad at around 8:30. It was just starting to rain in the far NE when we left Skull House. We get down there only to discover that my sticks were still at the house. I'm hoofing it back up I-25 when it starts raining for real. I can drive in the rain fine, but wiyh all that lightning, I felt like I had just eaten a bunch of mushrooms. REALLY fucking scary and disorienting. I make it back downtown and when I go inside, there's like 1" of standing water, with TONS more pouring in. The water was cascading down the bricks which made for a nice effect over the projector image. Torture Victim had grabbed those big floor squeegees and everyone was rotating in and out of Keep-the-Water-As-Far-Away-from-the-Gear-On-the-floor. It was incredible. There were WAVES! And like currents! Mad respect to Lake Launchpad's staff for finding the clog in the gutter. There should definitely be some pictures about. Music started a little late, and sets were a bit short, but all in all, no one was even fazed. Faded, maybe. Anyway, thanks to Fields of Elysium for braving the weather to come down from Santa Fe. These kids were sick, folks. They're like 16 and they're doing more than I was at 20. Watch for 'em. Torture Victim fucking KILLED it. If you haven't seen Torture Victim before, go do it. VERY thrash-y and tight too boot. Their drummer was playing some really nice combos between his kick and 9" Zil-Bell. Thanks for jamming last night, fellas. The almighty END TO END took the stage after them. They've gone through some personnel changes over the last year, and this was my first time seeing E2E with Ugh and Junius and all I've got to say is DAMN!! Those two dudes had some really fucking big shoes to fill and they were fucking great. Also nice to see (and meet) the tireless neck himself, Mr. Sloppy. What a fantastic night.
