This was the most occupied rock show at Ralli's that I've seen in a long time. How did you guys do it?
There were women crying while mouthing words to 5MS songs, faces getting rocked off, on-stage tequila shots, and a few glazy-eyed LB's making fools of themselves. We caught a little bit of Nunchuk (who has a new drummer- sounded good), at which point John and I realized that if we wanted to get home in one piece, we needed to take off. |

Indeed it was a grand time. King Friday was absolutely amazing, It was my first time to see their set and I was really impressed. I would recommend you check them out live when you get the chance. Five Minute Sin, as indicated by Dr. Thunder was damn Rocking! They can freaking get the crowd going. It was a hard two acts to follow. But NunchuK pulled off a great set list with our new drummer. Everything went as planed, no problems and we seemed to have won the crowds approval!
Over all, I had a freaking blast. We have yet to share the stage with Five Minute Sin and not have a freaking fun ass time and a great show. Thanks again to everyone who went. You were all a great crowd to play for. It was the most fun I've had in a long time... |

Here was my plan of action in lining up/promoting this show: Lineup- Three rockin bands that typically draw well. I put King Friday in the first slot because they are great and have a sound that will draw people into the bar. When they started playing we saw people pour in. We played the middle slot and tried to put in some cover tunes to draw more people into the bar. Finally Nunchuk closed it out and they are a great band that can keep the crowd in the bar and they also brought in a bunch of people. I've seen too many shows that have been lined up with a cool rock band who draws people in followed by a wicked death metal band. nothing at all against death metal...I fuckin love it, but I can tell you from my experiences that the majority of people who come to see five minute sin are going to leave the bar if the genre of music is drastically different between acts. You may think I'm wrong, or you may think that people are fuckin closed minded if they're going to leave, but this has been my experience. So lineup is huge. You can work your ass off to get people into the bar, but if they can't stand the band that plays after you they are going to leave. Line-up bands who work with you. They don't have to be the same exact band...For instance King Friday and Nunchuk are not like Five Minute Sin, but they are synergistic with our style. We also work well with Left Brain, even though they fuckin blow us off the stage as far as hardness is concerned...However, there have been tons of bands we've played with that have driven out our crowd as soon as they started. Promo!!!! We posted hundreds of fliers, hand-bills, e-mails, myspace, etc. for this gig...and it worked this time. You really should do these things if you hope to get a good turn-out. It doesn't always work, but at the very least your building name recognition all over town. If you don't agree with me I would be happy to go fuck myself...as long as you provide the lube. Rock! |
