The LB set was horrible as usual with Thunda barely "bringing it," Jhonson forgetting all of his patented stage moves, Tristin making less retarded expressions than usual, etc. New drummer Thompson made his presence known by adding short but very flashy drum fills during a few of the cheesy pauses in the songs.
I caught some of HBAB and was impressed by the stage energy they have these days. It was pretty dope. Screetch had like 5 new moves that must have been developed on the road in corelation with some of the other members of the band. At one point, local superhero Gordy walked in and headed towards the back of the bar. My friend and drinking accomplice at the time, CJ or possibly Cee-J, said "Damn! That guy's a pimp!" |

I think the "tight-pants-indie-prog" and the "sweaty-dork-metal-prog" made an interesting combo. We never don't have a good time rocking out in the metal barrel at Burt's. And Ashlee makes a tasty White Russian.
Left Brain was impressive as usual, despite a couple of well-recovered hiccups from the rookie. I think Thompson is a good match and I wish I could have caught up with you boys, but I'm guessing you were out catching bits of the Katatonia show down the street between sets. We Were Born As Ghosts added a couple points to my IQ that night. I like how Lucho looks like his arms are gonna break off when he's hitting the hi-hat. We saw a lot of old friends and made a couple of new friends (Moriarty kids are getting out more!) Getting a chance to talk to one friend in particular really made my night. It was a lovely homecoming, thanks to the LB crew, the Ghosts, and the always hospitable Burt's. |
