I have been silent about this for far, far too long, and it's time everyone knew: Five Minute Sin fucking rocks. They've quickly shot up to the rank of my favorite non-metal band in this town. If you haven't heard them, and you like to rock -- I mean really rock (and that means you like guitars, and you like a real singer, etc) -- then you're missing out. I've been following them for a few months, and I should have said something about them here, before now. Sorry.

Anyway, they played. I even missed the first song or two, but it didn't matter, they rocked anyway. Five Minute Sin. Remember that name, people.

Moray played too. I kinda like them. Fun band after a few pints.

But what happened next, I had no idea was coming. Totally unexpected. I'm not sure if they're local or a touring band or what, but... Savage Wisdom. They got me off my ass and on my feet and headbanging in front of the stage, in record time. Fucking POWER METAL!!! I haven't heard live power metal in Albuquerque since Symphony X played that the Launchpad in December 2003. But unlike Symphony X (which in spite of being an American band, plays European-style power metal), Savage Wisdom played American power metal, in the vein of Helstar or something like that.

Yes, you read that right. Your monitor is not broken. I said Helstar.

Sudden unexpected neck-workout!! It was GLORIOUS!

After that, the DJ who was playing crap between bands, kept playing hip hop, over and over again. And then, after a hip hop song and another and another, he did this: he played another. I couldn't take anymore (really, I tried, but it just never stopped -- he played more and more and more of it), so I left and didn't hear the 4th band. DJ, whoever you are: you suck! Have some fucking mercy. I mean, it's ok to let the hip hop fans have theirs. Really, I can handle it. But enough's enough -- don't TORTURE the rockers. Sheesh.
